Wrote my first WebGPU shader today! Always fun when you have a use case for a web/browser API you normally don’t touch

Probably going to get a Mac Mini in the near future I don't code outside as much as I used to and a dedicated desktop device would be nice

(compared to m=64MiB, t=3, p=1)

pilcrow @pilcrowonpaper.com · 31/08/2026

More memory usage, but a 4x reduction to attacking speed while still only taking roughly the same amount of time per hash on the server Still, the best option is to not use short, user-generated passwords

Not sure how I want to update this blog, but Argon2 is clearly the better choice if you can use it with a memory configuration over say 128MiB, even with a low iteration count i.e. use Argon2id m=128-256MiB, t=1, p=1 for servers pilcrowonpaper.com/blog/14

Is Argon2 actually better than Bcrypt?

- Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You: Enjoying it but not a lot of progression yet... (love the OP song) - Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Enjoyable watch but my gut tells me there's not going to be a lot depth - Chainsmoker Cat: It gets worse and worse (good OP)

- Sentenced to be a Hero: Decent production and story, but the characters, fights, and story writing were meh - Prism Rondo: Not really good and all over the place - The Ramparts of Ice: I quite like it, but a bit worried it already peaked (love the ED)

2026 anime I've watched so far: - Frieren s2: Not as grand as s1 but still very very good even on rewatch - Witch Hat Atelier: The highs were really high but it felt a bit lacking? Still excited for s2 - Journal with Witch: Loved it

was under the impression that t=3 (iteration count) was the minimum for Argon2, but that was only for Argon2i So for d or id you could use t=1 or =2 but more memory, keeping the computation time on a CPU the same but possibly slower on a GPU

pilcrow @pilcrowonpaper.com · 03/08/2026

I might've been slightly off with my comparison between Bcrypt and Argon2...

Carnitas! I think I overcooked the pork a tad bit but I think my tacos are finally at a level where I’m pretty satisfied with them (Also didn’t have enough jalapeños to make a pickle)

Yellow corn tortilla, shredded pork, salsa roja, salsa verde, coriander, red onion, flaky salt

No library. I was already using regular DOM stuff like createDocument() and needed a cleaner way to handle component state

Nice. I'm currently using a DT 1990 Pro MKii. Love the sound and the build quality is unmatched Focal Bathys is probably the best wireless option, but I'm not the biggest fan of the design

I'm unfortunately not the biggest fan of in-ears

000

pilcrow @pilcrowonpaper.com · 29/06/2026

I'm starting to look to replace my M4 tho, the pads are starting to get sticky and the overall build quality is meh. The bluetooth connectivity and the app are also driving me crazy

020

pilcrow @pilcrowonpaper.com · 29/06/2026

I keep forgetting how much better my wired headphones are than my wireless one (Sennheiser Momentum 4) lol And the M4 isn't that bad either, they're better than the AirPod Max or Sony's
