You could def make that argument ass well, they've quantitatively wasted the most money and resources out of anyone. They're a bit of a different flavour of fuck-ups, where microsoft just mindlessly burn money and hope for the best, Sega has more a legacy of not understanding the industry at all.

Many things in FW feel like direct answers to issues people had with 3H, and this might be one such case. The gender locked classes were such an odd thing about 3H that they almost certainly got some negative feedback from it.

Not familiar with all naming conventions, but it feels odd to equate Von to a middle name, considering how it's just "of" in German (i.e. von Riegan -> of Riegan('s family)). As in, I'd imagine that a person could have a middle name as well as a "von surname", though mb they'd avoid that w FE names.

Oh fucking hell, that unlocked a memory. All of them couldn't fit on a single extra cd so they dumped it on a dvd, which I couldn't play because my ancient dvd drive is broken. Not sure if I'd even wanted to, but still. I guess so few even listen to cd:s anymore that it wasn't worth the effort

I haven't played FEH for several years but I sometimes try to read some new units and skills The point to which the game has become a parody of itself isn't even funny anymore. FEH combat has reached modern Yugioh, where you'd have to take a university course to understand all the interactions.

Engage is honestly the game that completely stopped this spiral for me, because it was not at all the direction I wanted the series to go but it still ended up a top 5 switch game for me. Made me realise just how much I like the series more than my actual favourite FE:s.

and then there is FE 5 that both chooses some canon events from 4 and then even rewrites some of it, and it works way better than it should as a kind of alternate canon. I thought that was really cool of Thracia and it's a bit of a shame it doesn't feel feasible anymore.

Partly related, FE has a weird history with prequels. FE6 and 7 have some odd inconsistencies but they mostly don't matter unless you're digging into the weeds,

Looked at impartially, if a sequel were so much removed from 3H that the "winner" didn't matter, why even reuse the setting? If we want to references, a prequel makes more sense. And "choosing" a route would honestly be at-best kind of petty.

I didn't really want them to "pick a route" honestly, more so just avoid the question of what route is canon (I genuinely think that what route won in 3H wouldn't be apparent in Dagda after a few centuries).

I just feel that being a prequel is more limiting for FW, while a sequel risks contradicting 3H more. I think it's far more important that FW:s new story can breathe, any 3H connections should be a lesser priority.

My hottest FE take is that the God Shattering Star upload deserved to go because it was a thunder/rain mix that messed up the progression of the song completely, making it unlistenable and altering the fanbase's perception of the actual song

Thracia is key to this parable I think, because of how interconnected its story is with its gameplay, as in, a lot of story in FE 5 is told through the gameplay. You could read this as FE 5 prioritising story to the detriment of "pure" gameplay.
