Hi yeah I use grease pencil now which is a blender thing. Makes sense because I used primarily paint in dreams. Grease pencil is dreams paint with more customization and possibilities.

Sometimes I think more than half of my time spent working on art is sitting there thinking at a blank canvas not because I don't know what I want to make, but because I don't know exactly how it needs to look and what I need to do to make the animation function in a very specific way.

The art im doing right now is for the intro cinematic storybook, so it will be a sequence of 3-4s videos on loop playing (animated paintings) with animated text for the story (and voice acting) So, there isn't really a budget at all for this part of things. Maybe an amateur move, but so am I haha

it seems like low res still shows the deformation well for the most-part. the video i used for bluesky was only 512x512, and im planning to use higher than that for the main scene

Update on sunflower: i added some more deformation to the rings and added lighting and color. Blender runs at 2fps when previewing so I think I'll have to render it onto a plane for use in my storybook. #gamedev #indiedev #art #animation #blender #greasepencil #2d #flower

The armature contains 384 bones and the grease pencil has 384 vertex groups. I manually selected every single seed and assigned it to the proper group in edit mode.
