This is Billy Basso. Creator of one of the most celebrated indies in recent years, Animal Well. The perspective of a physical release (which we worked on too) was a huge motivation for bringing it to PS. By killing that option you are now alienating devs, Sony. "Genius" move!

Yesss, I still share physical games with friends actually. And there's also all the preowned market, specialized shops, etc... The worst thing anyway is the risk that the next console might not have a disc reader, not even sold separately. And that means not be able to play our old physical games 😭

I agree! I probably buy more digital games than people that pretend to be digital only gamers, but I also buy tons of physical games as well! And I want to have the freedom to choose which version I want. Killing physical also kills preservation, full backward compatibility, etc...
