I did another Monster Hunter Stories thing. ^^ I wasn't originally planning on putting so much work into it and was trying something a little different in the process. I chose my MHSt3 protagonist for it because I like the default outfit; I feel it's the most striking of the fem protag starters.

I did another thing based on Monster Hunter Stories 2. ^ ^ I chose a Seregios monstie for this one because for its kinship attack, it rains shining scales down like shooting stars. I approached this one, wanting to make it look kinda like a card.

Did a short comic on Monster Hunter Stories 3, because I'm a big MHStories fan. XD There's a bit to unpack on explaining the comic, which I put in the image link. "Kinship" is a theme, story and mechanics-wise throughout the MHStories series, which I really like.

In the game, you can fly by mounting a flying monstie. If you have the girl in red in your party following you, even though her monstie is strictly a terrestrial type, she's still able to catch up to you wherever you go! -not only that but the "pink rex" just kinda magically keeps up (off screen?), even when flying is a requirement in the story.
There's some other weirdness too, but the game doesn't take itself too too seriously in a number of aspects, so it seems okay. XD

I did a Monster Hunter Stories 2 thing. I wanted to express the power, dominating presence and danger of a large creature like F.Anjanath in the wilds and really wanted to put the human aspect, in a disadvantageous position, representing human frailty and honoring the grandness of the outer world.

I struggled a lot with this one (art is hard); with the monster anatomy, deciding on a setting and its composition, colors, etc. In fact, I gave up on this picture for a while, but also couldn't help thinking about how I could fix it. I probably spent many hours just feeling a bit hopeless about it and being indecisive on whether it was worth pushing through.

I'm a really huge fan of Monster Hunter Stories 2, but have very little experience with the core game series. ^ ^ I can't help feeling really drawn to the colors and design aspects of Fulgur Anjanath. I really like its colors and striped fur, and I love its animations; how it bites, lunges, and rolls in its attacks! -and the surprise elements that set it apart from an expected "normal" T-Rex, having its hidden fins and nose flare-ups when it's enraging.

I really wanted to try moving away from stage-like lighting, which I tend to have a habit of using, and focus more on environmental colors/lighting, without the colors looking too drab/uninteresting, nor gross. I also really wanted to retain and express the iconic orange and black&white striped color theme of a Fulgur Anjanath too though, thus there is still some stage lighting for that effect. I also didn't want to make the color scheme to be too "pop", modern, and neon either, to give more of a classical feel; though it's hard to not use neon-looking colors for a creature that naturally has a bit of that neon-electric theme. I was really torn about leaving the picture's light and dark values at a bit of a low contrast, since higher contrast imagery tends to look nicer and make things pop more, but as I mentioned, it's also something I didn't want distracting from my intended mood and my feelings with the piece.

This is a picture I did of a friend's Monster Hunter Wilds character. We were both pretty excited about MH Stories 3 coming out. The meat is a reference to a whimsical cooking mini-game (which I think is so cool to have) that has carried over since the first MH.~

I did this picture last November because I started and absolutely fell in love with Monster Hunter Stories 2.~ XD I felt like I needed experience and inspiration for drawing wild monsters, leading to me downloading the "Trial" version. I was always curious about the MH spin-off series.
