The Dark Blues have lost their last 6 on the bounce at Celtic Park, conceding 24 goals in the process but they did come within a whisker of beating the leaders at Dens just 3 weeks ago. The game is not live on the telly but is on offer on Celtic PPV for £12.99. celticfc.com/celtic-pay-p...

Celtic can restore their 13 point lead with a victory whilst Dundee can leapfrog Kilmarnock and St.Mirren with their first win at Parkhead since Fabian Cabballero scored a brace there in a 2-0 victory in May 2001.

Note that Morton are away again tomorrow, and not playing next weekend. That means their home league game against Airdrie on 15th February will be their first home match this YEAR. That has got to be hurting the old bank balance.

Sunday Motherwell host league leaders Celtic at Fir Park. Celtic have hit 7 without reply against the Steelmen in two encounters this season and have not lost at Fir Park since Celtic have won their last 10 games away to Motherwell, scoring 33 times. SKY, 15:00 kick off. Have a good one folks!

Tonight Leaders Falkirk host 3rd placed Livingston. The Lions have taken 4pts off the Bairns so far this season and kept two clean sheets against them. If they were to prevail tonight they'd jump up to 2nd, giving Ayr Utd the chance to grab the summit tomorrow. BBC Scotland, 19:45

I'll throw in a shot on target for the on form Igamane and Franjo Ivanovic both of whom are averaging 2 on target per outing. That's 14/1 and it's definitely going to win. Very best of luck to Rangers this evening!

Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 30/01/2025
Divs Bonkers Bet As always with Rangers I'm gonna start with a card for Nicolas Raskin. I'll also add in Kevin MacAllister for a card cos when he's not fighting off burglars he's getting booked or sent off for Union. He's been carded in 4 out of 5 Europa League games he's played in.
100
Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 30/01/2025
Referee The man in the middle tonight is Pole Damian Sylwestrzak. He's averaging just over 4 yellows per game having dished out 86 in 21 appearances this season to date. Betting Rangers are favourites tonight but still odds against at 11/10. Union are 12/5 and the draw is a 5/2 option.

Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 30/01/2025
Team News Rangers are without Cerny, Kasanwirjo, Souttar, Sterling, Yilmaz and the ineligible Hagi, Nsiala, Cortes, Danilo and Fernandes. Union are missing Boufal, Castro-Montes, David, Burgess and Machida but Kevin MacAllister hasn't been left at home alone, he's back from suspension.

USG Europa Form Union started the campaign with a narrow loss away to Fenerbahce before a 0-0 draw with Bodo/Glimt in Belgium. They then lost away to Midtylland before drawing at home to Roma. They got going with 3 wins on the bounce, all by a single goal, over Twente, Nice & Sporting Braga.
100
Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 30/01/2025
They ran out 4-0 winners away to Beerschot at the weekend and currently sit 3rd in the Belgian Pro League table, 11 points behind leaders Genk. Union have the best defensive record in the division, conceding 19 goals in their 23 games to date.

Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 30/01/2025
Both sides could in theory still grab a spot in the top 8 but more realistically both will be aiming for the 3 points that would grant them a seeded spot in the play off round. USG Domestic Form Union come into this one in fine form with just 1 defeat in their last 18 games in all competitions.

Telly & KO As per last night all 18 Europa League ties are being played simultaneously at 20:00. This one is live on TNT Sports 3. What's at stake Both sides sit on 11pts in the Europa table, with Rangers a few goals better off than Union in 13th spot whilst the Belgians are sat 15th at the moment.

Morgan Rogers has had a shot on target in 3 of his last 4 at Villa Park and has also committed 2 or more fouls in 6 of his last 7 at home so I'm gonna put him down for 2 fouls tonight and a shot on target. That all pays 12/1 and it's money back as free bets if it loses, which it probably will!

Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 29/01/2025
Divs Bonkers Bet Villa have a potent threat on their left side and Bayern, Bologna and Juve have all had cards on the right trying to cope with it. I'll start with Alistair Johnston for a card and Nicolas Kuhn to make a tackle helping out on that side as he has in all 7 of Celtic's UCL games.
110
Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 29/01/2025
Betting Villa are obviously heavy favourites tonight at 1/2 with Celtic a big 5/1 shot to leave Birmingham with the spoils. The draw is 15/4.
110
Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 29/01/2025
Referee It's our old friend Clément Turpin with the whistle tonight. The Frenchman is averaging just over 3 yellows per game in all comps this season He's issued 15 cautions in 4 UCL outings and 7 yellows in 2 Europa League appointments this season.

Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 29/01/2025
From Shite to Sugar Celtic's campaign hit an early bump as they got humped 7-1 in Dortmund on MD2 but they have not lost any of their UCL games since, drawing 3 and winning the other 2, keeping clean sheets in both of their previous away games.
110
Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 29/01/2025
Home Comforts Villa's are currently on a 9 game unbeaten run at home in all competitions. They are also unbeaten in their 3 home games in the UCL and indeed have not conceded a single goal across those ties with Bayern Munich, Bologna and Juve.
120
Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 29/01/2025
Villa sit 9th and a win over Celtic would allow them to overtake any of the five teams directly above them if any of those fail to win this evening. Celtic can also still in theory make that top 8 but they need a proverbial shitload of things to go their way in addition to winning at Villa Park.
110
Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 29/01/2025
Scenarios Whilst both clubs are already assured of their place in the play off round there is still a significant carrot on offer with a top 8 finish bypassing the need to navigate that play off round completely.

A good win for Raith Rovers on the road last night as they swept aside Hamilton at NDP. Accies with 3 defeats on the bounce now though and leaking an alarming amount of goals, that's now 10 conceded in their last four outings.

We don't have anything like the English Under 23 Premier League. Understand that is a financial thing, but it's not helping the cause to keep these boys developing up here.
152
Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 29/01/2025
Most academies are pretty much becoming player farms that develop to sell rather than developing for the first team. Brexit partly to blame for it, young players chasing money a big part of it, but these boys are hitting a development wall up here & the structure of our game is also playing a part.

Dundee Utd confirming Alan Domeracki has joined Norwich City for an undisclosed fee. Another in a long line of academy prospects across the Premiership being hoovered up by clubs down South before they've kicked a first team ball in Scotland.

Kieran Tierney coming back is an outstanding bit of business for Celtic. Will be a huge asset to both Celtic and Scotland if he can get fully fit and playing regularly every week. An absolute baller.

I get that some decisions will still be subjective but in this particular case, like the Dan Casey one, you're just left scratching your head and wondering how Nick Walsh looked at that again and decided "aye, I was spot on with that, shut the fuck up Don".

Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 28/01/2025
The point of having VAR is to recommend that the referee reviews clear and obvious errors made on the field using replays from all available angles. VAR in this case (Don Robertson) has done exactly what it was brought in to do.

Pie & Bovril @pieandbovril.com · 28/01/2025
Unsurprising to see Rangers win the appeal against Diomande's ridiculous red card at Tannadice on Sunday. The timing of this incident and the score at the time meant it had zero impact on the final result but it's still an absolute riddy (pun intended) for Nick Walsh, for Willie Collum and the SFA.

Far from convinced McGlynn would be tempted to move from Falkirk and I suspect Motherwell will favour a younger appointment anyway. Can't be much there to get the juices flowing amongst the Fir Park faithful?

Sorry I've been neglecting the account over here, find it very difficult to go back to short form posts, means it's a pain in the arse copying content from X to Bluesky and having to chop it all up. Coming exclusively over here is an option but not one I'm ready to take just yet.

There is no point but it's a pain in the arse duplicating posts across both platforms when there is no long form format over here. So one tweet then becomes 4 or 5 posts over here, it takes time to separate it all out and it's time I don't really have when the audience numbers over here are tiny.

Divs Bonkers Bet Nicolas Kuhn is in fine form so we'll add him to score or assist. I note that Kabakov likes booking full backs so I'll go with Maxim De Cuyper and perennial card man Alistair Johnston to get cautioned tonight. That get's us a nice 25/1 banger. Very best of luck to Celtic!
