Today's vote paves the way for mass detention, family separation and deportations - normalising abuse we've seen with ICE in the US. Now Commission, Council and Parliament will work to hammer out a final text. Help us stop it. Share, mobilise, sign the petition: action.wemove.eu/sign/2025-12...

French NGOs @ldh.fr @utopia56.bsky.social and @anafeasso.bsky.social accuse him of having encouraged Frontex agents to facilitate the interception of migrant boats by Libyan and Greek authorities in the Mediterranean. Fabrice Leggeri is now an MEP with far-right Rassemblement National.

Tommy Olsen, founder of @aegeanboatreport.bsky.social, has been arrested in his hometown in Norway following a European arrest warrant by Greece. His "crime"? Documenting pushbacks and helping people in need in the Aegean. This arrest is a shameful attack against solidarity and human decency.

This vote seals a toxic alliance between centre-right and far-right forces, after weeks of backroom deals to kill the last remaining safeguards in a bill that will harm millions. Human dignity, freedom, equality: this vote betrays the very values the EU claims to uphold.

The EU Deportation Regulation ushers in a dystopic detention and deportation regime, with people being sent to countries they don't even know. It imposes harsh sanctions on people living with irregular status, limits access to national permits and will ultimately increase irregularity.

This move is a powerful reminder that regularisation is not only possible - it works, and it’s the right thing to do. For thousands of undocumented people who have built their lives in Spain, this could mean dignity, stability and access to basic rights.

We needed this news SO MUCH ❤️ The Spanish government has announced today a broad regularisation programme which could benefit around 500.000 people. At a time when a hostile environment against migrants is spreading on both sides of the Atlantic, this move shows both humanity and common sense.

The Council’s position goes against basic humanity and EU values. Now it is up to the European Parliament to reject this approach. Migration governance must be rooted in dignity and rights – not fear, racism, or exclusion.

This so-called ‘Return Regulation’ ushers in a deportation regime that entrenches punishment, violence, and discrimination. Instead of investing in safety, protection, and inclusion, the EU is choosing policies that will push more people into danger and legal limbo.

Despite these challenges, one conclusion is clear: Regularisation works. It changes lives, strengthens communities, and benefits society as a whole.

Gains can be short-lived if people cannot access secure, long-term residence status. Regularisation measures must be inclusive and fair, and they must lead towards secure status to truly harness its compounding benefits.

Our research also highlights important limitations and gaps. Most existing studies focus on time-limited programmes, making it harder to fully understand the impacts of ongoing mechanisms. High fees or burdensome procedures can also undermine outcomes by pushing people into debt or insecurity.
