Excited for Pintaro. He has a 2.81 ERA (3.06 FIP) with a 1.13 WHIP and 32 Ks in 25.2 IP for Syracuse this season, and he's posted a near 3:1 K/BB ratio. His strike percentage is a bit low for my taste (58%), and he gives up hard contact, but he also misses barrels and gets outs. Let's see 🤞

Myers was giving up a lot of contact; who's to say what happens in 10 more pitches? He just as easily could have surrendered that second run. The Mets have also used a league-average number of pitchers so far this year, so I'm unconvinced on the bullpen burnout point, honestly.

Myers hasn't been stretched out to a starter's workload yet, so they'd run the risk of injury by pushing him too much if he's not conditioned for that; they also clearly don't plan to have him start, so they aren't going to add fatigue by ramping him up if they don't need to.

Zach Thornton referred to himself as an ‘ultimate competitor’ and ‘a strike thrower’ in pre-game comments. “I hate walking people.” His 70% strike rate, 6.5% walk rate, 0.92 WHIP and 13.5 P/IP at Triple-A all agree with that self-assessment.
