Halfway through a lovely week in our favourite place, it's dawned on us that this is the first proper holiday (longer than a weekend break) we've had on our own, no kids or other family, in 34 years! It feels a bit weird, in a good way.
In a carved depression in a pale yellow stone niche sits a small white stone with a green shape painted on it. The shape resembles the shape of the Isle of Wight.
White letters on the green shape read "IT'S ALL WIGHT"

Seen this so many times recently. Rain just seems to go round us. Great banks of rain coming from Wales split in two: north part heads to Manchester, south bit to Brum. Every time. But they misjudged it tonight and we got a bit!
Screenshot of rainfall radar showing rain almost everywhere except where I live.

A lovely afternoon at the beach today, ending up showing the #eclipse on a handy car park sign. People were sharing eclipse glasses and quite a few came across to chat about the projection. Now for some meteors...
Projection of the eclipse through a colander onto a car park sign. The eclipse is about 50%, in a circular pattern, and the sign shows a No Motor Vehicles pictogram behind it.

Some trees are just attention seekers.
A tree in a dense wood. The trunk is divided in two and the larger part (on the left) has a big cavity with a small one above it. Together they look like a wide open mouth and an eye. To either side are two large multifoliate leaves that look like jazz hands. The effect is quite striking and looks almost like a sculpture.

For those who are suffering from brown dusty views and smoke from wildfires, here's a couple of photos from my walk to town yesterday. Not to make you jealous, just a reminder of what green looks like.
A view from a bridge over a stream. The stream is in the foreground, with a brown gravel bed, seen through the branches of an overhanging willow tree. The stream is lined with tall wild flowers. In the distance is a glimpse of a green meadow with more trees and bushes. The predominant colour is a lush green.A view along the stream (in the opposite direction to the other picture) towards its confluence with a large river. The banks are rich shades of green plants with a few pink flowers, and sunlight is shimmering off the surface of the water.

Took this after commenting on the visibility today, not realising that I took almost exactly the same shot yesterday, when I didn't notice the horizon... Anyone recognise where we've been for the bank holiday?
A coastal view across miles of grass and sand. A distant headland on the horizon has some tall structures...
The sky is lightly overcast but the visibility is good.

Post your warning sign (Turn round now!)
Four pictorial warning signs (on the wall of a Welsh castle). I think they mean:
Hold children's hands
Slippery surfaces
Trip and fall hazards
Risk of bird attack

A clear, colourless balloon floating in a dim bar room. We are looking up at it and the ceiling is pale. Reflected on the balloon's surface are many small bright spots of light and two images of a portrait of a woman on a nearby wall. One of the images is inverted.

This afternoon's concert venue is a cut above the average! Lovely acoustic too.
A sumptuously furnished room in Sandon Hall, Staffordshire.
Large sofas and a beautiful Persian style carpet.

I've been photographing the contents of our church for the inventory, and noticed that this one looks quite pretty! #AccidentalArtist
Photo of a prayer desk standing on a patterned tile floor, lit by sunlight through a stained glass window from the right, which is also making a splash of colour on the white wall behind.

Not just in woods, either!

Thought about getting the telescope out but couldn't be bothered in the end. Simple kit works great #eclipse

Some tidying up and finishing required. It's functional, but not presentable.
A square squat wooden platform with 6 legs, roughly covered with beige carpet.
