Start saving those receipts now before they get deleted, before those people pretend they didn't support any of this maleficence—until it started affecting them. And remember, it wasn't the cruelty, the corruption, the depravity, or the crime: it was the price of gas that changed their minds.

Hate is a part of the human experience, but it's too easy for hate to get out of control and become harmful to innocent people. So I recommend picking something to hate with all your heart so you get it out of your system. Like mayo on French fries, or Ska music, or Chip Floyd of Independence, Mo.

People who sit on the fence deserve MORE contempt than those on the wrong side of it because the rest of us have to go through both the fence, AND their useless asses to solve the problem.

Don't waste your time taking any "man" seriously who wants you to believe he's both a complete badass and an oppressed victim, depending on the conversation.

"Hey Phrost, how is that book on arguing with idiots you were supposed to be done with five years ago that we've all forgotten about coming along?", asked nobody. Pretty well, actually,

If aliens ever wanted a single example that sums up our species, it would be the fact that to keep people safe, some of us invented both seat belts, and a chime reminding people to use them—and some of us invented a device that silences that chime... ...which also opens beers.

There aren't enough gimmick accounts on Bluesky (or hours in the day) so if anyone wants to make one for "Vanilla Rawls" I already warmed the planet a little bit to give you a head start as a way of thanking you for your service.

All I'm saying is that in the wake of the last wave of genocidal fascism, SJ Gould and co. absolutely had their hearts in the right place, but they also had their heads up their asses. And so now we're here. Again.

Communism is incompatible with human nature. This upset a lot of smart people so much that we dealt with decades of denial that humans even had a nature, wasting brainpower that could have been spent working on effective systemic controls to keep that nature—and the sociopathic capitalists—in check.

Bluesky is great if you want to interact with reasonably smart people within a range of decently informed perspectives. But when you want to come back to reality, there's Facebook.

Being tolerant of stupidity in any democracy with nuclear weapons is itself colossally stupid.

Phrost @phrost.com · 21/08/2026
Stupidity is violence. The stupid harm not only themselves, but their neighbors, communities, and nations. The consequences of their stupidity ripple outwards like the sickly sheen of motor oil dumped into a lake; like an infection spread by someone who loves shaking hands, but hates washing them.

Like many dudes over 40 I'm on a Greek history binge. I just wanted to say it's so amazing any of the scrolls written by Euripides survive while we have none from Eusaveides.

There's a certain type of American that—as a young man—comes across a term like "Slum Lord", focuses on the "Lord" part, and gets aspirations.

Sigh, I made a solid B+ joke for the caption on a post elsewhere, but because we live in the era of the monetized slop nanny algorithm internet, and I used the word "shit", it went underappreciated. Some days you're just a penguin running towards the mountains in a Werner Herzog documentary.

They use Christianity as both the shield to hide behind while they do bad things to others, and the sword to do those things. I feel bad for authentic, sincere Christians—but not bad enough to give them a pass for letting this happen "in Jesus' name".

The Internet allowed the average gullible idiot to search for the information that they wanted to be true, but at least they had to fucking search for it—AI now pre-chews and spoon feeds that to them.

A significant portion of dudes can be manipulated into doing just about anything—up to and including unaliving themselves—for someone else's agenda, by making them believe it will affirm their masculinity.

I deliberately chose Vermont over Maine when we bailed on Texas, despite the significantly higher cost of homes, because those knuckleheads kept re-electing Susan Collins. What I'm saying is, I'll chip in.

It's not literature by any means, but goddamn does the series have some huge moments that are expertly set up to pay off, and more than a few heavy emotional gut punches. Trust me man, it's worth the ride.

Science is Woke. "Woke" is anything that hinders fascists from exploiting hate and fear of other people to obtain power, and an evidence-based understanding of the world tends to do that.

A fish born into and swimming its life away in a sewer has no idea its environment is toxic, that it's being poisoned by it. Hell, it might have even developed a bit of resistance to the toxins. It just lives its life because that's all it knows, tries to find whatever comfort it can..

I don't know the guy's actual history, but the way our predatory society is structured you almost have to be some kind of privileged nepo baby to get anywhere on a national stage—minus a few outliers that get disingenuously pointed to as examples that this is not the case. Shouldn't be, but it is.

This was prompted by me getting into an argument with someone who apparently won a Pulitzer, who thinks Platner is a literal fascist. How do you explain to a person like that, that reducing egregious harm by getting Collins out of office NOW is more important than ideological purity down the road?

Phrost @phrost.com · 11/06/2026
Graham Planter may very well end up being a slightly less Shrek-like Fetterman, but even if he is, with all his problems, he's STILL better than Susan Collins. I sincerely question the judgment, if not intelligence, of people who can't do that math.

We need to build not just a "high-trust" society, but one that has social and systemic disincentives for believing patently stupid things.
