Uber actually replied to my email asking for more information. The answer is below. It says very little, but the words "fraudulent activity" make me think that they probably were offended by my VPN. Only criminals use VPNs! Why would a law-abiding […] [Original post on social.photorat.org]

The reply from Uber. It says:
"Upon further review of your account, we've noticed a number of irregular activities. As a result, your account will remain deactivated for further use. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards fraudulent activity on our platform in order to preserve safety, security, and quality for everyone in our community. Please know that we treat the security of the Uber platform very seriously, and therefore, we can't disclose any further details about our internal investigation."

Uber just banned me for life. No explanation. I went to the #Uber website and tried to create an account. The sign-up form hiccuped a bit (because of uBlock Origin? Firefox?), but it finally rendered. I filled out the form and submitted it. Then it said […] [Original post on social.photorat.org]

The email from Uber Support. It says "we have found an activity that does not comply with our Terms and Conditions." They do not say what that activity is. They further say "you're no longer eligible to ride with Uber or order with Uber Eats, and your account will be deactivated effective immediately."

Here's a photo I took today of my Nexus 7 (2013), still (kind of) happily running Ubuntu Touch. The clock has drifted a little. My little tablet has slipped back to August 13th of 1972 (wish I could do the same!). It's a shame they never got Ubuntu Touch […] [Original post on social.photorat.org]

My Google Nexus 7, right after powering up for the first time since, uhhh… 1972, apparently. (The date displayed on the screen is August 13, 1972)

Back in ~2016, I installed #UbuntuTouch on my Google Nexus 6 (2013). Some apps didn't run and there was poor documentation, so I abandoned the project. This weekend, Ubuntu finally closed the no-documentation bug. Yes, ten years later! I must have been subscribed to the bug. My email got […]

What the holy enshittified fuck just happened to me?! I last had #AmazonPrime when it was $100/year. I got free shipping and free streaming video. As I mentioned a couple of days ago, I signed up for a one-month free trial of Amazon Prime. Then it auto-renews at $15/month. I just sat down to […]

I've got #AmazonPrime free for 30 days. What are some good shows to watch?

This is one of my favorites from 2014. I call it "Dandelion Wishes". #art #photography #Olympus #EP2

This photo is from 2014. My Photoshop/Lightroom skills are better than they used to be, so I reprocessed it today. #art #photography #Olympus #EP2

Black and white photo of an old man, seen from the waist up. He is shirtless. He is standing in the South Dakota Badlands. A hill with a lot of layered erosion is in the background.

I previously mentioned that I joined PurplePort, because I want to dabble in model photography again. I promised to post some of my portfolio images here. Let's start with this one. In 2012, I hired a photographer and a model to teach me studio lighting […] [Original post on social.photorat.org]

The backside of a nude model. She has long brown hair that almost makes it halfway down her back. She is wearing a rainbow hat. She is sitting on a stool shaped like the backend of a horse or donkey.

I was playing yesterday's TimeGuessr puzzle, and they had this photo. It's from 1983. It shows Montreal Expos catcher Gary Carter and a big crowd around him. What jumped out at me weren't just the four obvious cameras, but they're all 110 "pocket" […] [Original post on social.photorat.org]

I'd like to do more photography with models, so I recently joined PurplePort. Yesterday I made it to their list of the Most Viewed Photographer Profiles! 🎉 You can see my profile at: purpleport.com/portfolio/photorat/?… If you […] [Original post on social.photorat.org]

A screenshot of the list of profiles of the 18 most-viewed photographer profiles on PurplePort yesterday. I am shown at the left-most position, which suggests that I was actually number one on the list!

Anyone have any good suggestions for a #hiking app for iPhone? I don't need anything heavy duty. I just want something for local trails. I had downloaded #GaiaGPS a few years ago. It was OK at the time. I went in there tonight, and it's a monstrosity! It turned into some sort of Instagram […]

In case you need to hear this: Keep looking. They are out there.

A vinyl sign hanging from an overpass. It says: "Finding your people makes you realize there was nothing wrong with you."
