chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 03/01/2026Nice. I do feel like being able to see everything all at once - or at least having it in the same unit - would benefit me. Not sure I’ve hit db scale yet, but I’m probably overestimating my memory. 110
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 03/01/2026What’s you system for cataloging gear? I use “mound building” and “oops I forgot I had that.” 110
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 03/01/2026Did we break it? Yes. Can we fix it? Signs point to “not likely.” See historical precedent, or literally anything that requires competence or attention span. 000
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 03/01/2026On point and only emphasizes how ill equipped our current leadership is for the challenge. No broad or long-term vision for … anything. 010

chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 25/01/2025I’m really overthinking the process of not overthinking things. 030
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 18/01/2025The secret to knocking out a task you don’t want to do is finding more urgent task you want to do even less. The escalation of procrastination fallback. 020
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 16/01/2025User experience lessons right here at Sabino Canyon. A user testing group of > 1 would have identified this problem. Hardware and software have to talk. Though I do admire the UX field modification. 030

chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 11/01/2025Okay, I have a Bluesky presence, but I think popping from network to network as the company leadership morphs from reckless to disappointing to dangerous is a losing battle. The people make the community and I lose track of good folks with every jump. Except Twitter. F*ck Twitter. 030
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 21/12/2024“Hawk tuah memecoin rug pull” is a great sentence to drop when you want to bring a conversation with your parents to an abrupt halt. 030
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 08/12/2024I was pretty neutral about the food on my international Lufthansa flight, then they handed out full-size bags of Haribo gummy bears as a snack and now I’m a customer for life. You never know where you brand wins will appear. 020
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 01/12/2024I think that’s the presupposition for a lot of this discussion, but it also seems that the models continually accomplish tasks they “can’t” (like understand context), and we close doors to where there may be real advantages for real people. I’ve been convinced to say “can’t yet” much more often. 100
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 29/11/2024Wow, these are great. Nice to be ambushed by photos of the Tucson area as well. 010
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 28/11/2024I had a boss whose superpower seemed to be sincerely apologizing for things that were not his fault. He came out looking empathetic and effective every time and the organization was much better for it. 010
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 28/11/2024I’m not deeply expert in this and most of my WCAG work is in brand design, but the evolution of machine generated text from “a man walks along a street” to “George Clooney walks along Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, California” seems like meaningful progress to me. I’d certainly love more context. 000
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 28/11/2024I’ve seen the evolution go from very generic to startlingly accurate for specific places, actions and sentiment. I see a lot of potential for backfilling noncompliant areas. That’s all I’m positing. 000
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 28/11/2024True, but it’s getting way better. The AI tools I use for keywording and describing stock photos is very, very good and has evolved three generations in the last year. I’ve used it for over 100k photos and it rarely misses anymore. Verbosity can be easily set. 100

chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 22/11/2024I dunno. I work in private industry and a major feature I redesigned in 2019 has aaaalmost made it to production. 😩 020

chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 17/11/2024This CAPTCHA. I guess AI gatekeeping to keep out other AI’s but allow humans is only going to get more challenging. It might be time for a new model. (FWIW, I failed.) 010
chance @photodesign.bsky.social · 16/11/2024Remember when everyone used to make fun of social media platforms filled with boring, navel-gazing posts like “I ate a sandwich today”? Maybe those were the good old days. 000
