Had my 1-year mammogram yesterday. No evidence of disease. Surveillance + tamoxifen for the next 5 years. I cried on the way home from the hospital. Cancer free. Last herceptin infusion is Thursday. Port removal to come.

Spent my Saturday afternoon at Short Pump ER with a kidney stone. First one since 2022. As if all my other medical stuff wasn't enough, 2026 has to add this insult to injury? But I'm home and comfortable now. Hopefully in the next 24-48 hours this little bastard will get its eviction notice.

“Ontario” isn’t some name Canada invented. The name comes from Native American/Indigenous people. It is traced to an Iroquois/Iroquoian word, commonly given as kanadario, meaning “sparkling water.” The name was being used for the lake centuries before Ontario even became a Canadian province.

Being healthy shouldn't be at the whim of for-profit companies, and it shouldn't matter if the patient is a Rockefeller or just trying to keep up with the Joneses. Universal health care should be the standard. But go off about beef tallow and vaccines, I guess.

I fully understand and am IMMENSELY grateful that I'm fortunate enough to have really good insurance and the ability to pay off medical bills with relative ease. But it makes me sick to think about people with no insurance or who are under-insured who need care and can't afford it.

This year, it took one immunotherapy infusion. One infusion that cost about $44,000 (chemo last year was billed at over $130,000 per infusion - every week for 12 weeks). And now I'm done paying for medical and prescriptions until June 30, 2027.

Last year, it took an ultrasound-guided biopsy, an MRI, and co-pay for outpatient surgery to hit my out-of-pocket limit for my insurance. By October, everything was 100% covered (our insurance starts over every July 1).
