The thought was as the users “claim” their accounts, the accounts would become publicly federated. I accidentally pushed a change that put these accounts back into the normal public firehose and the relay backfilled all the activity between the last public event seq and the next public event seq.

Gotcha okay no problem. For context: I was syncing users from a proprietary db into my PDS. Created a second firehose in the PDS to sync these users data into my appview without going through public relay to avoid aforementioned limits

@bnewbold.net I was experimenting with un-federated accounts after our conversation here. I accidentally pushed up a change that federated the un-federated accounts, and throttled my pds. I was told on the discord I should reach out. Any chance you could help here?

Ah okay I see, totally understandable. Do you have any recommendations by chance then? I am thinking I can just run a secondary "unfederated" shadow pds for the migrated users as a short term solution. That way their content and activity at least still shows up on my appview.

My question in regards to pds rate limits was in regards to migrating users from an existing platform to the my pds. Working with one of the big players in the space right now and would like to migrate ~20k users to start. Would love to share more in DMs
