That’s not even close to an apology. And besides, Denmark lost more people per head of the population than *any* other country in Afghanistan. The obviousness of his contempt for crucial alliances matches the obviousness of his contempt for the truth.

When Celebrities and Leaders Clash: Exploring Grace in Public DiscourseIn today's polarized world, high-profile figures often share strong opinions on politics. A recent viral video compilation highlights years of sharp comments from actor Robert De Niro about a prominent leader, sparking online debates about decorum and respect. It raises interesting questions about how public figures respond to criticism—especially in hypothetical scenarios involving loss or tragedy. Should leaders always take the high road with kind words, stay silent, or speak authentically? What do you think is the best approach when faced with long-term public criticism?View all 26,671 comments

Channel 4 News close to examplary this evening. It pains me to point out that some people working for the broadcast partner of Bari Weiss's CBS News, the BBC, could learn a lot from Matt Frei & Anushka Asthana. But I also wonder how much 'balance' we give to obvious liars, however powerful they are.

Russia drafted a 28 point surrender plan, handed it to the Trump team, and the regime delivered it to Kyiv unedited, demanding Zelensky sign it by Thanksgiving or lose all US support. Trump and Vance then promoted the plan exactly as Russia wrote it, verbatim, on TV, online, and in person.

Musk, Tommy Robinson - fascist Britain. A hellpit of violence and racism. They’re using our flag as their rallying cry. And X as their megaphone. No more appeasement. No more ‘legitimate concerns’ horseshit. It’s beyond time to sanction Musk, regulate X and shut these fuckers down. (Sunday Times)
Photos of Yaxley Lennon/Robinson and Musk talking on video link and a bloodied protester.

…murdered in cold blood this week and people on the left celebrating it openly.
"The left is the party of murder and celebrating murder. I mean, let that sink in for a minute, that's who we're dealing with here."
He said that the British public were
"scared to exercise their [right to] free speech" and claimed the BBC was "com-plicit in the destruction of Britain".
When they finished their conversa-tion, Robinson said: "Not only are we in the fight right now, but we're on advance thanks to free speech being fought for, for us, by Elon Musk."
By about 4pm riot police, backed by mounted patrols and dog units, were struggling to protect a group of masked antifascists hemmed in at the top of Whitehall. Missiles and flares were thrown by Robinson supporters, with some hitting officers.
Many chanted
abuse at the police, mocked officers and spat at them.
The Met said on X: "Officers are having to intervene in multiple locations to stop Unite the Kingdom protesters trying to access sterile areas, breach police cordons or get to opposing groups. A number of officers have been assaulted."
It later added: "The turnout for the Unite the Kingdom protest was too big to fit into Whitehall. Protesters left the route on to Victoria Embankment and sought to access Whitehall from multiple directions ... When officers moved in to stop them, they faced unacceptable violence.
They were assaulted with kicks and punches. Bottles, flares and other projectiles were thrown."
More than
1,600
officers
were
deployed to deal with the demonstrations as well as several football fixtures in the capital. At least 500 police had been drafted in from forces outside London, including the Merseyside, Humberside

And so he should be. Trump has probably asked Starmer not to sack him. Over and over again to be so reticent and slow to do the right thing is such a disappointing weakness in Starmer.

P M @phitu.bsky.social · 10/09/2025
Why hasn’t Starmer sacked Mandelson? Showing zero tolerance towards his association with a convicted paedophile and rapist would leave Trump even more exposed. Is that why Mandelson is still in post?
