I'm starting a Core Maths course with Manu Kanpur's (original credit may be due elsewhere) classic goals/points productive failure task on variance. I've used plenty of guided inquiry before but this will be a first. Any thoughts, opinions, or experience on this? I'm working completely on theory.

Does anyone have experience with AQA Core Maths (Certificate Level 3 Mathematical Studies) and wouldn't mind answering a few questions, please? Manu thanks, in hope, in advance.

@vendi55.bsky.social @webbkyle.bsky.social @maegangiroux.bsky.social Hi all. I've recently discovered the BTC book and it's re-inspired me to build more collaborative problem solving into my practice. I'm really enjoying your podcasts to fill in gaps and help adapt my initial ideas.

If constrained to a single unit, what's a good (the best?) sequence for teaching fraction calculations? I'm coming around to: multiplying proper, equivalence and simplifying, add/subtract with same denominator, converting between improper and mixed, any multiply, any divide, any add/subtract.

#UKTeaching #UKMathsChat Is anyone really happy with their Edexcel secondary maths (specifically GCSE), off the shelf, scheme/sequence of learning? Not too many tweaks needed, assessments pretty good, etc. If yes, can you let me know what you use? Many thanks.

#UKEd #UKTeaching #UKMathsChat Canvassing some opinions about KS4/GCSE schemes of work, please. I've never worked with an off the shelf (OTS) version I've been happy with due to sequencing concerns. My default is to front-load algebra and use student success here as a proxy for who is likely to...

Does anyone have any successful strategies, GCSE maths, with very low attaining y11 students? Weak numeracy and poor problem solving skills. Able to follow quite complex algorithms (S.E. for example) if repeated enough times, but fall apart at the slightest change of context.
