I have two questions: Are we talking about the same Zack Polanski under whom Green Party membership has more than tripled? Since when did a national opinion poll determine who leads a party rather than its own members? 🤔

Here's something the media is hardly talking about. This Government is set to oversee the steepest fall in living standards in modern times - unless they change course fast. In less than two weeks Labour faces a stark choice - will they tax wealth and back the majority?
Under current projections this is set to be the worst parliament on record for living standards growth - and a bar chart demonstrating it

True enough, FPTP distorts the reality of the people’s wishes. But come the GE I think it will be many Labour candidates coming second - the trend of London turning Green is real and growing.

Claire, I think the Tory vote is not worth talking about. The Green vote however, is another matter all together! With such a low turnout and massive increase in vote share they look set to turn London into a Green Party stronghold. Labour, even under Burnham, have got a big problem.

The 2024–2025 #cholera outbreak in #Sudan, the deadliest in the country’s modern history, was driven by conflict, not seasonal weather. Attacks on infrastructure, blackouts affecting treatment plants and hospitals and funding cuts fueled the outbreak. #TalkAboutSudan

The thing is here, I think , is to take a look at what is happening now, today, and ask a serious question about the viability of the two state solution. IMO adherence to this defunct notion gives licence to the Israeli state to carry on with genocide and appropriation of West Bank land.

#ThisIsGenocideNotACeasefire: Israel continues to kill Palestinians, attack hospitals and block access to aid and healthcare. Meanwhile, world leaders are failing to stop it. We call for the protection of civilians in #Gaza and the lifting of restrictions on aid.

George, I rarely disagree with you but on this I do. I don’t agree that the history is complex it is a straightforward issue of Zionism undermining a long held set of relatively stable relationships that existed for a long period of time.

Simon, I really don’t think that the natural outcome of the GP motion is another round of Genocide. There is a more practical solution that focuses on people living together and respecting each other’s rights.

I have great respect for Caroline and our brilliant MPs and I realise that the conference motion will create complex issues for them. I find it hard however, to disagree with the motion. The Genocide and the oppression in the West Bank is so great that radical change is the only option.

Richard, I agree. Burnham is, in my view, much better than Starmer but he and his government are so timid and unwilling to think progressively. I left Labour when Starmer started his purges, after being a member for over 25years. I find the Greens an improvement and would urge others to take a look.

The Times - which has v much joined in the rightwing clamour to reduce immigration - now reporting that Mahmood’s “success” has cost the economy £4- to £7Bn. Would they like to now honestly confirm that fewer people = less spending power for all. There’s a high price to pay for this nasty obsession.
Patrick Maguire
Chief Political Commentator Oliver Wright Policy Editor

Falling migration numbers could cost the chancellor as much as £7bn in fiscal headroom as he writes his first budget, The Times has been told.
Government insiders believe that John Healey, who already faced an uphill battle to balance the books next month, is likely to have an even bigger challenge after immigration undershot projections from the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR).
The Institute for Fiscal Studies think tank estimated last month that the success of Shabana
Mahmood's
reforms, which have cut net migration to the low hundreds of thousands, could cost Healey some £4bn.
