On this day in history, November 13, 1940, Disney’s Fantasia was released. The Philadelphia Orchestra and former Music Director Leopold Stokowski made movie history by playing the soundtrack to the innovative animated film that has since introduced multiple generations to classical music.

Last night’s performance with Teddy Abrams and Time for Three was electric! The Orchestra and Time for Three gave the SPAC premiere of Mason Bates’s Silicon Hymnal, and Mason himself took on the electronica part. Works by Samuel Barber and Aaron Copland rounded out the night. 📸Ironglass Productions

Conducting Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde with the @philorch is equal parts exhilarating and heart-wrenching—as only a great opera can do. Rehearsing the Holztrompete solo with Associate Principal Trumpet Jeffrey Curnow was a joyful moment: an example of the spirit this orchestra brings to the piece!
