Phrankenmosk @philmosk.bsky.social · 13/10/2026I was pushed forward, skipping 2nd grade, which also took place at the same time I was moving schools (moving… five blocks further, wasn't that far). Went from a normal 1st grader to the weird kid in 3rd. Luckily, also born an ox, so the bullying wasn't immediately invited. 1100

Phrankenmosk @philmosk.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Did this last week, sneezed hard with an uncapped pen, spraying dark purple ink onto my favorite shirt. Big, big ups to the folks at Wearingeul, whose inks are fast on paper, but water-soluble like Alka-Seltzer. Quick water and a Tide pen, the little drops of Frankenstein are gone, on cotton, yet. 000
Phrankenmosk @philmosk.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Certainly use a slew of cheaper pens, until you've determined your preferences. Start with an 'M' medium nib and go from there. Euro / American nibs also tend to run a bit larger than Japanese. After that? Sky's the limit (and penmakers prove that with their pricing). Buy what you like. 000

Phrankenmosk @philmosk.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Best red ink I've used lately is the Wearingeul "Dracula", it's supposed to have a bit of shimmer if used with a brush / broad nib, but in fine nibs, it's a Ferarri 'rosso corso' level red. Highly vibrant. 110
Phrankenmosk @philmosk.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I usually load something like Writer's Blood / Oxblood into a dark brown tortoiseshell, works esthetically. 110
Phrankenmosk @philmosk.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Aside from something overblown, gaudy, and expensive… (no shade, of course, that might be your thing), …the Conklin All-American range is large without being comically oversized, and accept JoWo nibs. Bigger than a Sailor 1911 Large, or a Pilot 823. 110

Phrankenmosk @philmosk.bsky.social · 06/10/2026I've found that once I started determining my preferences, my price-limit rose, specifically for those pens that matched. Turns out, I prefer classic cigar-shapes and fine nibs, which defeat the tricks of a lot of special-effect inks (such as shimmer/sheen)… 000

Phrankenmosk @philmosk.bsky.social · 02/10/2026And, just for your edification, most fountain pens that require a converter, in order to use bottled ink, can alternately use ink cartridges, as well. Only a few brands that require special convertors / cartridges (looking at you, Pilot) most other allow their pens to use generic convertors. 020

It's more a steel gray with blue undertones. 110
