It was A squad vs B squad and we took them to the wood shed. It was nice being back at church.

I get shipping is expensive but when you support a kickstarter for over a hundred dollars, with an additional cost of $37 dollars on shipping, and then $16 dollars on additional taxes, when it arrives in packaging like this and its damaged its pretty disappointing.

Gonna use this map for more play testing of an rpg I'm working on. One player, one GM. Hoping to develop more tables, while continuing to refine the game loop.

Dragonbane on the menu. Running a dungeon for my buddy and our kids. Shenanigans in 3...2...1...

Picked up Alien: Rapture Protocol at the Comic Hunter in Moncton. Highly recommend checking out the shop, huge selection of comics both new and old, and super friendly staff. Board games and a decent variety of rpgs are on the second floor.

In last nights Star Trek Adventures, Captain Nelson faced off against a crazed ensign aboard the USS Surprise. A classic TOS dust up! "The meat walking these halls will serve as adequate tools!" He hissed. Cut to commercial break until next session!

Game day double header with the North of 7 crew. The One Ring followed by some late night Mothership with some Peruvian Chicken for dinner! Win!

Some games the map is a mechanical necessity to determine when and where journey events occur.

Prep for session 4 of the One Ring in full flight. Session 1 was a rescue mission. 2 involved investigating the Shadow conspiracy. Session 3 was a fetch quest. 4 will be escort the VIP from Forest Gate to Rivendell.

Another killer release from Free League. No one's production quality comes close to what they've been doing with The One Ring series.

Finally, a special thank you to Christian for organizing the rpg events @breakoutcon.bsky.social . The staff were pros and I felt well taken care of all weekend. And a thanks to @mattcolville.bsky.social and MCDM for donating copies of Draw Steel to the con! Can't wait get this too the table!

Made a couple of purchases... I've heard a lot of good things about Perils and Princesses. Handed it over to the little monster yesterday, hoping she'll pick up the GM reins and run a game soon. Got home today and she's already read most of the book, asking me to roll up a PC. Success!

A special thanks to the GMs whose games I had the pleasure of playing! You created fantastically entertaining sessions to immerse oneself in. None of my PCs died!

Another Breakout Con in the books! Thanks to everyone who participated in this weekends games, I had a blast running them! Mothership and The Walking Dead make for memorable con gaming experiences.

Journey map for session 2 of my The One Ring rpg campaign finished. Major overkill cause they'll really only wander near to the Anduin River this adventure but it's fun, relaxing practice.

Planning the next session of my The One Ring campaign and came across a sheet for a fallen PC. Top right corner. I appreciate the honest assessment of the player! Mirkwood is not for the faint of heart or foolhardy.

A buddy shared his stress levels at work vs playing in the opening session of The One Ring campaign I'm GMing. I'm pretty proud of this.

Upcoming games taking up bandwidth.

Phil McClorey @philmcclorey.bsky.social · 09/07/2025

Flipping through Vault of the Drow, it feels like parsing through an inscrutable text. It's so dense. So foreign from modern day adventure design. A relic from a bygone age. How was this used to run a game?

030

Phil McClorey @philmcclorey.bsky.social · 15/06/2025

Some Father's Day pick ups at The Sword and Board. A little mix of old and new. #ttrpg

Phil McClorey @philmcclorey.bsky.social · 28/05/2025

What's the cover art that got you started in the #ttrpg hobby? When I was a kid my local comic shop had a shelf of Forgotten Realms novels. Once I pieced together there was a game associated with the novels I started down the path and haven't looked back.

Current reading shelf. One of these things will never be played. One of these things is not like the others. One of these things will end up a solo PC campaign.

Phil McClorey @philmcclorey.bsky.social · 17/03/2025

Lastly, a few things I picked up at the show. Getting Pendragon to the table may take awhile but that Mothership mod could launch in the next few months if the star align.

120

Phil McClorey @philmcclorey.bsky.social · 17/03/2025

PCs I played. Kept it simple and went with fighter types. The lore in Runequest really is next level! One PC lived and one died.

Phil McClorey @philmcclorey.bsky.social · 17/03/2025

Games I ran! Dragonbane involved a scenario I'm playtesting. Received great insight and feedback! It's a big sandbox, I knew what the players were in for and got the BBEG to the table at the right moment but it could use advice in the introduction for how to run it.

Phil McClorey @philmcclorey.bsky.social · 16/03/2025

#Breakoutcon has been a blast! Always impressed with how the show treats volunteer GMs and the rewards they offer as thanks. This year I picked up the Pendragon Starter set donated by @chaosium.bsky.social! Ending the con running The One Ring today! Wrapping up @breakoutcon.bsky.social on a high!

Journey map for my One Ring session @breakoutcon.bsky.social. It'll be nice to let the players physically take a copy and sketch out the direction they want to go at the table like the game suggests. #breakoutcon #ttrpg #theonering #freeleague

We like to drink in Ontario. Canadian producers and other countries will benefit. US alcohol producers just lost a billion dollar market. I'm no Ford fan but I love this move.

Hot damn, a gift from Krampus to torment, I mean entertain, my buddies with. What a beautifully designed rpg. It knows exactly what it is and what it wants to do at the table.

Wrapping The Sinking Tower module for Dragonbane this afternoon with my daughters group. If they find the pirate ship all bets are off where the adventure leads, otherwise it's time to ramp up the Horrors Under Skull Hill. They'll be getting an unmarked modified map based on this unfinished version.

Looking forward to digging into these #TTRPGs in the next few weeks. A couple of options for the new year once our current The One Ring campaign potentially wraps.

I resisted the siren song of the PHB, I'm content with the 2014 rules, but I'm a forever DM at heart and the word out on this book has me generally intrigued. Plus, the price was alright.
