This coin could be from a small mint in St Andrews, but since so rare, there are doubts if one truly existed as more should be found 040

Both the charter and the seal bag survive in the Westminster Abbey archive collection. 020

This error occurs when the coin, once struck, gets stuck to one of the dies and is re-struck against another blank generating a mirror image of the obverse in relief. The dies used to actually strike the coins during this period all came from London and were carefully accounted for at all times 110

Very rare to begin with, this example is from a previously unknown obverse die. The crown is of Withers class 8, but the legend has the pellet before “REX” as in class 9. 2100

It is thought he marked his bullion prior to minting but this survived because he was arrested in Nov 1278 for adding too much alloy to his coins 180
