Running some test prints for a breast plate (3/4 of one, anyway) on the Centauri Carbon with every scrap of filament I had left to make sure it fit and that the alignment pins do their job keeping seams straight. Man I’m loving this machine.

Confession time: I’m scared to clear coat it. With all these layers of paint, even as the same brand, if it wrinkles under the clear I’m starting over. I already had some pull up with the tape. It looks better than I hoped, and I really can’t stomach the thought of starting over.

Wanted to add some color. Instead of going through the whole dying process I mixed up some 60/40 Rit and iso alcohol and went over everything with the airbrush to give more variances. No idea about longevity, if it’ll rub off on everything or what. It’s drying now and then I’ll give it a rinse.

I took out my first student loan in 1993. My wife and I consolidated both our loans after we got married (bad, but 🤷‍♂️). Last week we paid off our final balance, in no small part thanks to Biden’s loan forgiveness. I can not express the relief I feel with whatever is happening at the DoE now looming.

Macrobinoc design is proceeding apace. Test print was already pretty close, so tweaked a few things and started the final detailing. I’ll probably do some paneling and odd greebles after it’s printed, but yeah. I’m digging it.

Called an audible a couple nights ago and decided the bucket needed macrobinoculars instead of a rangefinder. First test print just finished, and I gotta say it’s pretty darned close. Couple tweaks and I can start on greebles! I’m either getting better at this whole modeling thing or just lucky 🤣
