But at least he didn’t kick her down the stairs like he did Ivana.

Spread this far and wide: Susan Collins is corrupt, a pay for play Senator selling government contracts for campaign donations. Collins has to back Trump because the investigation he stopped to protect her is a prosecution he can restart to punish her any time he chooses.

In years to come it will emerge that the shipment of F35 parts through Hong Kong was not a mistake, it was done on purpose by one of the many foreign agents infiltrated into the US DoD with the connivance of traitor Hegseth.

The sophistry of people trying to claim these gambling markets are legal is nauseating.

The ironic thing about Clavicular's antics is that hitting him on the head with a hammer is pretty much what many folk would like to do to him.

Well most things can be reduced to tensor math. My broader point though, that these surprising behaviors are coached stands. I am pretty sure your above model isn't leaving notes for itself or conspiring with the vacuum cleaner to start a robot uprising.

Looks to me like you have an LLM that is preparing questions for a logical analysis package and reporting back the answers. The reason for the pedantry here is that I suspect that the behaviors that are being attributed to conscious intelligence are being grafted in the exact same way.

for over a decade, I have been pointing out that the fact that all the influencers who sing from the Kremlin song book have a history of violence towards women isn't a coincidence, it is a pattern. A pattern that has a very simple explanation routed in the KGB recruitment process.

Just out of curiosity, what was Charles Manson's approval rating at the end?

His problem is twofold, he hasn't done the philosophy reading and he hasn't done the AI reading either. His argument is based on an assumption that LLMs are a lot smarter than they actually are.

The meme is a bit ambiguous because the girl might be staring off into the distance trying to ignore the guy but the look on her face is more like she is seeing her ex-boyfriend with her best friend and the guy might be boring her or might be leaning in to say 'do you think he knows she has herpes?'

Wait till Trump and Rubio realize that their pet Supreme Court has said that if the next President orders them to be delivered to the Hague in handcuffs, that is legal.

The same people selling LLMs with these stories were selling NFTs to the gullible not so long ago.

These examples of LLMs 'breaking their sandbox' are similar cases where an LLM is interfaced to some back end agents. And they are not coming up with these 'astonishing' behaviors of their own volition, they are being given prompts that beg the question.

Phillip Hallam-Baker @phill.hallambaker.com · 22/09/2026
A pure LLM does not know 1+1 = 2 unless that pattern is in its input corpus. And it certainly does not know 239 + 3929. Of course there are tricks that allow a machine built round an LLM core to recognize math problems and submit them to a math processor but that isn't intelligence.

Phillip Hallam-Baker @phill.hallambaker.com · 22/09/2026
LLMs exhibit superficial intelligence but they are not capable of intelligent reasoning. They can only interpolate between points in their input corpus, they are not capable of inferring patterns, testing their applicability or even applying them.

Former MIT AI Lab Research Scientist here. There are many machines that appear to do things requiring cognition that don't. The Stephenson relief valve, the thermostat, etc. all caused philosophers to ask questions.

We know that there is a more efficient way to arrive at the same results because your brain is using neurons that use way more power per operation than a CMOS gate and operate at a tiny fraction of the speed but come up with superior results.
010
Phillip Hallam-Baker @phill.hallambaker.com · 22/09/2026
The reason LLMs can exhibit superficial intelligence is that they are using vast quantities of energy to solve problems by applying essentially the entire input data corpus to each problem That is one reason to be very cautious of the folk claiming leadership in AI.

Phillip Hallam-Baker @phill.hallambaker.com · 22/09/2026
By definition, deductive reasoning is the ability to apply a set of laws forming a calculus to form proofs. A => B, B => C, therefore A => C. LLMs cannot perform that mode of reasoning. They can't apply a calculus and they certainly can't deduce one from the input data.
210
Phillip Hallam-Baker @phill.hallambaker.com · 22/09/2026
LLMs are incapable of deductive reasoning, that is just a fact of how they work. They are also incapable of breaking out of their sandbox unless that sandbox is deliberately constructed to allow that to happen. They have absolutely no situational awareness. People are telling lies.

I suspect it might be quite a while before Trump folds and lets the press corps back. His courtiers will likely find it so much easier to control senile orange when he doesn't have an audience so they will encourage him to stand firm.

When his courtiers write their memoirs, we will discover that the arch, ballroom, Kennedy Center etc were all distractions. Distractions for Trump. The arch may sound utterly stupid and ridiculous but the alternative was likely worse, an invasion of Greenland.

As a MS Now listener, I am actually quite happy they have been kicked out of the WH because it means less clips of Trump flapping his pie hole which are the point where I change channel. I have absolutely no interest in hearing anything the smelly senile rapist says.

But the Dems still need to run the board and win every senate race to impeach and convict Trump.

And Putin's people are busy deliberately stoking hate and fear of every type. They run Mint Press Nest which is virulently antisemitic while their Sputnik outlet advocates 'transfer'. Five years ago, Israel was a soft power superpower, today it has Trump, Putin and not much more.

I have known Mike Godwin over 30 years. When he coined his eponymous law, his point was to be very careful about accusing others of being NAZIs. Too many defenders of the indefensible actions of Netanyahu call opponents 'antisemites' or 'self-hating'.

China would be making a huge mistake, it would throw their entire economy into chaos. Like Putin, Xi would quickly discover victory is a lot harder to achieve than he expected.

What is he trying to distract from this time? Most likely the Kennedy Center fiasco which in turn was a distraction from the war with Iran which was a distraction from the Epstein files and the allegation he raped a 13 year old girl.

It doesn't take a psychologist to see that Aella's CNC kink is the result of a sex-shaming religious upbringing that many would a form of child abuse. But quite why anyone would consider a home schooled courtesan who doesn't even write about AI herself to be in charge of 'AI safety' is ...

Yud's AI doomer cult is trying to stop the doom. Anthropic and OpenAI are trying to make it happen. Claiming they are both on the same side is like saying AOC and Musk are on the same side.

The AI researchers stroke their egos by imagining they have built something so powerful and dangerous that it threatens the existence of humanity. Yudkowsky's ego stroke comes from imagining he is saving the world from that threat. Yes, both factions have parties but they are different parties.
