About this event
This training is a five hour long participatory training (with a lunch break) for activists who are interested in civil disobedience.
It covers what is nonviolence, what is civil disobedience, what are some of the organizing tactics in civil disobedience actions, nonviolent responses to violence, what happens to you when you are arrested in NYC, what are the likely kinds of charges, what are the likely court outcomes, how to support others during the action, and things that can go wrong during an action and methods to manage those situations.
Although this is not an ICE rapid response training, some of the information may be useful for people doing ICE watch and rapid response.
We ask that everyone plan on attending the entire training. We will provide an informational handout and try to answer everyone's questions and concerns.
