We're hiring a platform/distributed systems engineer to come work on ParadeDB Cloud. We're already live with customers and are moving fast. It's going to be unlike any other Postgres platform out there, and you'll have a lot of ownership in shaping it. DMs open.

Full text search is everywhere, which means lots of teams working to make it really really fast! BM25 remains a incredibly powerful toolkit.

ParadeDB Cloud, our managed Postgres platform with ParadeDB as a first-party extension, is available in private preview. We'd be happy to give you access if you want. We have regions and customers in Europe already.

You move faster when you've got a strong quality framework in place. This involved significant, risky work on the @paradedb.com storage engine, verified with Antithesis. We're proud to help our customers pull off feats like this.

Benchmarking wars and an illustration of the hazards of putting out a technical hit job on a competitor who knows what they are doing and responds back with their own hard hitting benchmarks 🍿 Hats off

Wake up, babe, new benchmarks dropped. It's good to see more companies realize the importance of FTS in Postgres and doing serious engineering on it. Here's to better databases for everyone.

On the front page, too :). For now this plugin is an MCP over our docs. Soon, it'll be an MCP over ParadeDB Cloud as well!

We still "integrate" with them via logical replication. You can remain on, say, AWS RDS, and have a logical replica ParadeDB cluster that serves your search queries. Many of our customers do. Today they self-host these in their AWS, but our Cloud will offer those instances hosted w/ VCP peering.

On the economic front, it was hard to split the revenue too. I believe it is possible, but Postgres providers would need to "platformize" their offerings. They don't have the infrastructure to allocate spend based on Postgres sub-components (in our case, our indexes).

Philippe Noël @philippemnoel.bsky.social · 20/08/2026
For instance, our customers expect development velocity, but Neon limited us to updates every 6-12 months. Ouch. What about support? They knew little about our product, but were still the "front of the house" for fielding support requests, etc.

Philippe Noël @philippemnoel.bsky.social · 20/08/2026
We tried partnering with existing Postgres cloud providers. We actually did with a few of them (Alibaba Cloud, Neon/Databricks, etc.). It didn't work well. The security, support, and economic boundaries between the two parties were blurred, causing customer issues.

We wrote a benchmarking tool to compare ourselves to state-of-the-art search/OLAP databases: github.com/paradedb/ben... If you're familiar with any of them, we'd love your help auditing our config files to ensure they are as optimized as possible (to put up a good fight!)

Benchmarks lie to you. But if you build your benchmarks for yourself, the incentives change. At ParadeDB, we're first trying to convince ourselves. If we do, we think we'll also convince others. This post is the story of how the same question leads to 3 results, and how we optimize for each.

One of the most common question we get for ParadeDB is "When will it be hosted?". With this partnership, the answer is now. You can now host ParadeDB on Render with the click of a button, so you can focus on building your app.

4/4. The configurations are public. If you're an expert in those systems, please help us improve them! We want them to put up the toughest challenge. Stay tuned for public-facing performance results soon. And of course, don't hesitate to add new systems to the project.

3/4. This led us to building ParadeDB Benchmarker. We'll be using it to compare ourselves and publish reproducible results against competitors we are frequently compared to: @elastic.co, @clickhouse.com, @mongodb.bsky.social, @opensearch.org, and of course @postgresql.org.

Philippe Noël @philippemnoel.bsky.social · 14/05/2026
2/4. We wanted a database benchmarking tool that was: - Workload agnostic, so we can run all kinds of workloads (not just ones that make us look good) - Reproducible (so others can get the same results) - Representative of real workloads (not just a snapshot at a point in time)

Philippe Noël @philippemnoel.bsky.social · 14/05/2026
1/4. ParadeDB is fast. But (until now), you've had to either try it yourself or take our word for it. We're long overdue for some public-facing benchmarks! Most companies out there selectively pick the workloads that make them look good. We didn't want to do that. This is why we built this project.

The Cofactr team got burned by MongoDB. They needed a database that was 1) reliable, 2) operationally simple and 3) could be self-hosted within AWS GovCloud. ParadeDB was a perfect fit, enabling them to consolidate search + OLTP in a single datastore.
