Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 05/10/2026I thought Josh came into his own when given something real to do and a bit more opportunity for reactions in the results shoe. I would like to see him in the "Clauditorium" And I think his humour would be helpful there. 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 20/09/2026It is taking me a while to take in the layers; each one joyful. Thank you! 001
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 17/09/2026So lovely to read these comments! Richard and Mel definitely put heart and soul, as well as smart minds, into this shop! 000

Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 05/09/2026We do indeed! Great session! Look forward to slides... And a conversation.... 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 30/08/2026This is wonderful Sent it to the head and deputy of the fabulous Halifax Academy; part of a group whose buildings span this landscape. Unusually, they have built art into the centre of the curriculum. They loved it. 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Who is it by? It reminds me of some of the School Prints 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Lovely the historical insight as well as enjoying the picture. The dominant/not dominant helm distils this as a snatched moment in a life of work and movement. 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Helpful signpost to the tilted perspective. I got it instinctively but enjoyed exploring it and comparing it with others. Thank you. 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 09/08/2026Joyfully astonishing in its energy, light and shadow. Will try to find out more... 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 09/08/2026 Never been to Australia but the open gate speaks to the bouncy open heartedness of the many Australians I know! 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 26/07/2026Enchanting in every way! The slight halo all around her is magical! 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 26/07/2026The tension between the wobbly deck chair, the wooden one and the heavy material feels palpable. It lifts out the unusual colour combination so it sings. But, sitting must have been brutal?! 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 26/07/2026Oh my, the back lit thorn and teasle (and wheat ears?) really pull me in. The thunder feels imminent but less important than just absorbing the image. The grain looks scratchy. Threatening indeed! 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 21/06/2026Wonderful. It reminds me of the harbour in the School Prints by Julian Trevelyan. 000
Reposted by Philippa Cordingley Susannah Walker @susannahwalker.bsky.social · 16/06/2026He is very underrated. His posters of shells for Shell manage to make the entirely ordinary very surreal. 001
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 21/06/2026Very fruxtrated to find this removed for adult content. Keen as anyone to protect young people but am sure the tech folk can distinguish between pornography and a Hockney sketch. It feels as tho they are deliberately winding us up. 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 21/06/2026I am wondering if what we are seeing is the mind of the sitter throubh the eyes of a 22 year old who is currently immersed in seeing and feeling his way into other minds? 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 14/06/2026What a fabulous way to organise a year! Though the loss of light in winter must have been doubly sad... 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 14/06/2026So much said with so light a touch 010
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 14/06/2026Maybe he is just so on my mind, but there is something specific about the intensity of focus on trees that reminds me of the stories about Hockney using them to get visitors to learn to look... 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 07/06/2026A believable, intimate but not cmfortable exchange. The girl's neck says so much 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 07/06/2026The simplification is mesmerising. It immerses me but the strangeness makes my eye roam and search. Not sure I would have disentangled the two eithout the context so thankyou. 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 26/05/2026Spellbinding! I can feel the sun on glowing limbs. On the beach where? Unusual, surely to see such short dresses in 1891? 000
Reposted by Philippa Cordingley Mel Malton @melmalton.bsky.social · 24/05/2026Yes. Sometimes, if the light and water shimmers in a picture, I’m there, *in* the sea. A photo never does that. 001
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 24/05/2026With even a little Hopper too? Fascinating 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 24/05/2026Wonderful imagination! I'm sure not much was that colourful in 1953 when I was born. I don't think it was just the arrival of colour film in the v late 50s that moved us on from the beige/ black and white times. I distinctly remember the arrival of brighter blue and even yellow and blue anoraks.... 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 24/05/2026A fascinating sense of contained voluptuousness 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 24/05/2026The face of someone performing even on repose? 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 24/05/2026I can hear it too, in all the current sea/ beach pictures. Interesting how one sense stimulates others.... 110
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Ooooh. Something to look forward to! Where is the best, ideally independent place to buy your books? 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Such fascinating contextual detail! It underlines the fallen flowers and the way the movement must have seemed out of contrxt 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 17/05/2026The geometrical tree underlines the artifice. 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 17/05/2026Isn't it just! The instability of the beer echoes the unpredictability in the novels. The colours draw you in. The fierceness of the eyes too, except they also push you away... 010

Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 04/05/2026I recently visited the longest Yarn 2 exhibition where many, many of the 80 knitted "sculptures" featured scenes like this conjuring up vividly how much of the environment veas turned over to vegetables.... 010
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 04/05/2026It does seem different - very fresh in both colour and feeling 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 26/04/2026I haven't seen one of his landscapes, or sketches before. This helps to reveal the nature of the impact of his portraits 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 21/04/2026It's completely arresting! It's making my eyes dance. 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 19/04/2026Captivating. The movement in the grass across contours makes me think about Ravilious and the difference in media as well as landscape. 000
Philippa Cordingley @philippacordingley.bsky.social · 19/04/2026I hadn't heard of him (this is all a fabulous journey of discovery). V mich enjoyed looking him up. Thank you! 000
