Look if they cannot sort out the promised restoration of the pet passport in 18 months and counting, what hope has reentry got? Not in my lifetime that’s for sure.

I'm from a cricketing nation yet cannot comprehend why Stokes's retirement should be deemed "momentous". I wonder if it has anything to do with sport not being necessarily connected to nationality. Just a thought.

And that is why I will never be a "proper football fan". It's like when PFFs howl at ex-players simply because they had the nous to move on.

Brand is yet another word that has lost its meaning. Don't get me started on "iconic" or "curated".

The revised view here now is that Jura wines keep well, if not actually improving. I have two 1979 Burgundies to put to the test when our 50 th wedding anniversary arrives.

Maybe (probably)I don't buy Jaune as well made as yours but I've come to the conclusion that they don't gain as much from aging as I led myself to believe.

I'm not so bothered about range. Mostly drink Burgundy and Jura. I'm usually looking for specific wines or domaines. Three trips a year to Nuits St Georges helps a lot.

Err that's a non sequitur. It's not difficult to find good - ie wine one likes - these days. If punters choose "terrible" wine it could be that sufficient alcohol at a reasonable price is all that's required to scratche their wine itch.

I rarely find words about wine much use. All that purple prose and hyperbole. Helps too not being bothered about covering all the wine bases. 90% of the cellar comes from the mighty Bourgogne and Jura.
