It's soon Sonic Citizens! This year I and @lmc-lu.bsky.social have been helping with the programme, and we have Kate Lacey as keynote speaker (possibly also "keynote listener"...), plus Shortwave Collective, Laura Balboa, Lilian Campesato and loads more. Register here: kulturljudzon.se/index.html
Event graphic for "Sonic Citizens" set against a street scene at sunset. Concentric soundwave circles frame central text reading "10 days to go" alongside two model tiger heads wearing headphones. Text at the top reads "25-26 SEPTEMBER KULTURLJUDZON" and the bottom reads "SONIC CITIZENS Full programme at kulturljudzon.se".

Visited @iurmalmo.bsky.social today to hear, among other interesting things, a presentation of the Gaza Soundmapping Project (ambientgaza.org). Worth checking out and supporting if you're interested in sound archives, sound mapping and the politics of listening in a Palestinian context.
A seated audience watches a presentation screen showing a digital map titled "Gaza Soundmapping Project." To the right is a banner for "IUR, Malmö University, Institute for Urban Research".

Was at Simon Halberg's successful PhD defence this afternoon. His thesis is a work of rare quality, quite a page turner, with a fantastic central argument and focus. It's free to read online and should interest historical and landscape geographers + many others! portal.research.lu.se/en/publicati...

The idea of sonic citizenship also got a mention at the launch of this book and sound art installation this evening. Seems to be pushing forward interesting discussions about sound in/and public space

It was definitely a fascinating day and definitely cross-disciplinary in the best kind of way. Fantastic to reflect on the contributions, histories and futures of sound studies in Lund and elsewhere. Including @atommarie.bsky.social's own own highly topical presentation.
