Still can’t quite believe what happened yesterday… I have never experienced anything like it. On so many different levels. Nor will I ever again… All love and eternal gratitude @ozzyosbourne @tonyiommi @geezerbutler @billwarddrummer @blacksabbath #backtothebeginning 💜

God rest Brian Wilson… Welcoming him to the MOJO Honours List in 2012 was such a joy… He was equally dazzled and dazzling… When he was inducted into the Hall Of Fame he received a standing ovation and ended his speech shyly with a simple immortal line: “God only knows where I’d be without you…” 🙌🏼🖤🙌🏼

Another incredible player gone… Farewell to the great Les Binks… I’m off to listen to Unleashed In The East - his playing on that is off the scale… #lesbinks #RIP #feathertouch #judaspriest #standupforexciter

35 years on and still one of the greatest albums you will ever own… Tragically everything it stands against still exists…

Clem Burke… Premier drums… And a premier guy… ‘Fab’ elegance in every sense… The key part of a perfect band… Armed with a sense of understated genius… Last time our paths crossed was at The 100 Club in March 2023 at the launch for the Dog Day Afternoon festival… How we will miss him… 🖤🤍🖤

Big thanks to Mr Campbell and the Bastard Sons for tonight’s hospitality… Watching them play a celebratory @officialmotorhead 50th anniversary set was quite something… So good to hear those songs again after a decade and great to see so many familiar faces… Catch the Bastards soon if you can ✌🏼🖤♠️🖤

Sunday? SUN RA! Not one but two volumes of Jazz By Sun Ra, his mythical first recordings on Transition - the label founded by the great Tom Wilson… These reissues have been produced with love and care by the team at Sam Records, Paris. They look and sound beautiful. Records you’re proud to own… 🚀🙌🏼❤️

The eternal schoolboy is 70! So here’s to the pure joy and genius of the inimitable Angus Young! And in celebration, here are some rather fuzzy screen grabs from an interview Angus, Mal and I did at Olympic Studios a while back… It was a long day. Mostly because of the endless smoke/tea breaks…

Delighted to report that Napalm Death still make every other band on the planet sound utterly feeble…

She soundtracked my youth because my parents played her records all the time… Then, as I grew up, her music became even more important to me… Her first four albums - First Take, Chapter Two, Quite Fire and Killing Me Softly - are all untouchable… Roberta Flack is forever… Be grateful for that… 🙌🏼🖤🙌🏼

Bill Fay is gone… One of music’s great, unassuming heroes… His second LP, 1971’s Time Of The Last Persecution, is his masterpiece. But when you’re need comfort in sound, his beautiful 2012 return, Life Is People, is the place to be. Be At Peace With Yourself gets me every time. It just has again… 🖤

“Have fun for the rest of your lives!” said a beaming Peter Perrett leaving the stage after playing a beautiful, intimate set last night. Life-affirming indeed! Oh, and Peter’s latest album, The Cleansing (a double!), really is right up there with his greatest work so do check it out…

Many happy returns to the wisecracking man on the right - the inimitable Tony Iommi 🙌🏼 In celebration, here’s a pic taken many moons ago at Monnow Valley Studios when Scarlet Page and I popped down to bother Black Sabbath for the day… Oh, and Scarlet took the pic of course…

This is a rough-arsed bootleg… And, no, I wouldn’t recommend it… But I bought it just for that incredible cover pic taken by Lucian Perkins at the Hard Art Gallery in DC back in 1979 way before he won the Pulitzer Prize. Twice… Oh, and here’s to HR whose birthday is today… 🙌🏼❤️💛💚
