As someone who *loves* the horror genre, and enjoys reading both the "comfy" horror and the "this is giving me nightmares" horror kind, I am proposing what I consider to be "good horror":

![Anti-intellectualism refers to a range of attitudes, characterized by skepticism, mistrust or criticism of intellect, intellectuals, and intellectualism. It is commonly expressed as questioning the value or relevance of intellectual pursuits, including education and philosophy, and the dismissal of art, literature, history, and science as impractical, politically motivated, and even contemptible human endeavours.[1] Anti-intellectuals may present themselves and be perceived as champions of common folk—populists against political and academic elitism—and tend to see educated people as a status class that dominates political discourse and higher education while being detached from the concerns of ordinary people.[1]](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:vjnrgbes5dgix64hxyu65wie/bafkreighchem3xddtfzips4brt6s5b6pooyeepuvbklc5oho5im62vggny)

[In a wee pop up: This article may be too technical for most readers to understand (...) The text fades out.]
In sociolinguistics, a sociolect is a form of language (non-standard dialect, restricted register) or a set of lexical items used by a socioeconomic class, profession, age group, or other social group.
Sociolects involve both passive acquisition of particular communicative practices through association with a local community, as well as active learning and choice among speech or writing forms to demonstrate identification with particular groups. The term sociolect might refer to socially restricted dialects, but it is...
