Today @rrauschkolb.bsky.social provided some insights into our work at the joint @gfoesoc.bsky.social and @nordicoikos.bsky.social conference. PhenObs data can be treated as collected in common gardens to study phenological patterns within communities.🌻🌱

It’s great fun to co-lead the @idiv-research.bsky.social summer school on ‘Collection-Based Research in Plant Ecology’ and to present my work related to @phenobs.bsky.social. Spending a week working alongside motivated young researchers from all over the world is incredibly inspiring. 🍀🌼👍

I was a guest at the “Pop-Up Forum” at the @uni-jena.de to discuss the “Silent Crisis – Global Biodiversity” with citizens. It was a great format that allowed us to engage on an equal level and a wonderful opportunity to connect science with the public👍🌍. #ScienceCommunication #Biodiversity

A new Special Focus in @funecology.bsky.social brings together 13 studies showing that shifts in seasonal timing — like earlier flowering, changing breeding periods, or longer fruiting windows — are shaped by more than climate change alone. 🌱 🌸 🍒 🔗 www.idiv.de/climate-chan...

Climate change isn’t acting alone: species’ traits help set the timing of seasonal events
A new Special Focus issue featuring 13 studies reveals how species’ traits and climate together shape shifts in seasonal timing across ecosystems.

To look back on 9 years of PhenObs and to organise the coming funding phase until 2030, we had a meeting at @idiv-research.bsky.social this week. Together with many international guests, we laughed, discussed and worked on next steps.🌸🌱🌍. PhenObs can start the coming years with renewed energy👍.

Check out: New PhenObs paper published in ‘Basic and Applied Ecology’. We used historical data from Vienna and recently collected data from PhenObs to investigate whether phenological changes due to climate change (temporal scale) are also reflected on a spatial scale. ⬇️⬇️⬇️ doi.org/10.1016/j.ba...

We were represented at Pheno2025 conference (@biometeorology.bsky.social) in 🇧🇷 for the last 5 days. The days were full of exciting presentations and intensive exchange about phenological research. We look forward to deepening the collaborations we made in the future👍🌍.

We are happy that we can contribute to this conference in Brazil. Phenological research, like ecological research in general, must indeed be thought of in global terms, in line with the title of the conference: ‘PHENO2025 - Towards a Global Phenology Science’.🌍
