Yes, I do; out of thousands of photos over the nearly 18 years we were together, this is my favorite one of my heart dog, Oreo. 🩷🥹 It was taken in Aug. 2020 when she was almost 13, and she was just so happy and so much herself as she gave me her paw in exchange for the treat she's looking at.

“I will find them all,” Vergil vowed as Agnus backed away from him, taking two steps backward for every one of his own, until the foolish sapien trapped himself against the brick wall like cornered prey; his mouth opening and closing as if trying to say something, but alas, his body wasn’t cooperating with him under the increased stress, rendering him speechless and no doubt feeling more vulnerable than he already was, for Vergil knew from experience what it was like to be unable to speak while at another’s mercy. Vergil’s lips curled back further, revealing more of his sharp teeth as excitement coursed through his veins along with rage; he hated how much he enjoyed it, how much he had come to understand both sides of it.

“And when I do, your children will listen to their mother’s dying scream as her heart is cut out of her chest,” Vergil said as he closed the distance between them and raised his right hand, snatching Agnus by the throat and lifting him off of his feet while he pinned the larger man against the wall as easily as if he was a weightless doll. “They will watch everything and everyone they care about be burned to the ground.” He tightened his grip, feeling the sapien’s heart pounding against his bare fingertips as he leaned toward him, snarling in his face as he watched the color drain from it like a body bleeding out and allowed his emotions, his memories, to do the same through his lips. “Then they will be dragged down into Hell and experience fates worse than death until no blood, no bone, no ash remains of the people they once were!”

This time, I'm gonna 'cheat' with a line from one of my completed AO3 fics, A Midnight Tea-Party, which is part of my WIP series, TR&TH. — After a MIL insult flies over somebody's head, his mind literally wanders off into a tangent about money during an intimate moment. — 🔞 NSFW. — #WIPSnips #Fanfic

“How cute; speaking as if you actually care about money,” the White Rabbit said, mirroring the sneer back at him as condescension dripped from every word like venom. Meanwhile, he toyed with his cock in one hand and picked up the bottle of lubricant from the nightstand with the other, his thumb popping open the lid as he added. “Do you even know what a dime piece is? Judging from the photos I've seen, I know you never saw one of those in your father's mansion.”

Vergil glared at him, a soft growl slipping out of his throat as he was taunted about his lack of interest in the strange things that the sapiens assigned value to. Yet, those things were so easily earned with a bit of reconnaissance and a few slashes of his sword; rarely did it take more than an hour for him to collect as much money as his partner needed, and rarely did Vergil give it any more heed than that—unlike the mercenaries at that bar who whined about it every night, except for when they were too busy drinking a free round of their favourite poisons to do so.

And why would he? All of it was so needlessly complicated and different from their own world, a world in which might controls everything along with guts and honour, and that which couldn't be taken by force could usually be bartered for instead, so long as you had a name. After all, deals were contracts, promises were vows, words were truth, lest they fell from a sapien's tongue, or half of one. Yet, another reason why their warriors trusted his partner's words more than his own; if only they knew... If only they weren't so easily fooled by white fur and a silver tongue that knew how to fluently speak their own tongue whenever their doubts needed to be assuaged.

“—more than just bloody pocket change for the next mission,” the White Rabbit said something, most of which had fallen on deaf ears until Vergil focused once more on what was coming out of those smirking lips that he wanted to kiss, just to shut him up.

Oh god, this reminds of the pizza I had while in Morro Bay years ago. The flavor and greasiness of that pizza, I don't think I was able to force down a whole slice before I started gagging and had to stop trying, and then there was the aftertaste... As he walked under the small tree, Alexander lifted his marked hand above his head, his fingers running gently through the crimson leaves; some fell and floated away like rose petals upon the cool sea breeze, except for a few that got tangled up in his green hair, yet he didn’t seem to mind that one bit. When he came to a standstill at the nearby ledge, he took a deep breath and held it for a long moment before he released it as a contented sigh while he watched the leaves disappear into the sunset.

Vergil’s own breath hitched at the sight and sound of Alexander breathing; so easily, so deeply, so quietly… so completely unlabored as he seemed to savor not just the fresh air in this surreal place, but the fact that he could do so at all without a second thought or a painful cough. Even before he had become the White Rabbit, he had struggled to breathe in Makai without a mask, but that didn’t seem to be the case here in this wonderland.

This was a dream… it had to be another dream, just like the others he had since the first-time the barrier between realms was broken, Vergil told himself as his eyes burned and blurred when Alexander looked over at him with the sanest smile he had seen on his handsome face in over an year; he had to wake up and keep fighting… but Vergil couldn’t bring himself to do so, not yet as he took a moment to commit this sight to his memory: the sight of Alexander, happy and at peace, just as he had always wanted him to be.

Devils never cry, and yet, Vergil couldn’t deny that he was doing just that as Alexander returned to his side and lifted his marked hand to his face; he run a calloused thumb over his cheek as gently as he had done with the leaves, wiping away the tears that now streamed down his face like they did back when he was an emotional teenager. He wanted to avert his eyes, but Alexander didn’t allow him to do so as he cupped his other cheek in the palm of his unmarked hand, and tilted his head back until he was looking up at him.

He didn’t need to question Alexander about the look in his brown eyes or the shuddered breaths that left his burned lips while his body trembled, more likely from blood loss than anything else; for Vergil knew what they meant all too well—once upon a time, that look had surely been on his own pale face, his punctured lungs struggling to function until he felt claws upon his throat as he laid pinned in place. But unlike him, his partner didn’t have the regenerative ability to heal his wounds.

No, Alexander was a mere sapien, something that Vergil often forgot until the times he returned to his side and found him bedridden with a illness he had caught in another realm, or stubbornly limping around his village due to injuries that took far too long to heal. Those times were always a painful reminder of how different they were, of how weak and fragile his partner truly was; the fact he had survived this long in Makai was a miracle in and of itself.

Silently, Vergil looked over Alexander’s body from bloodied head to bloodied legs; tallying every burn, cut, scrape, and even what appeared to be a gunshot wound in his left shoulder. His eyes narrowed at that sight, a growl slipping out of his throat while his own body trembled in rage as he put two pieces together and finally recognized the foreign scent in the air: Gunpowder—this bloodbath hadn’t been drawn by the claws of makaians, but by the hands of sapiens, who would rue the day he got his own claws on them and tore them apart.

I meant to do this one yesterday, but I was wiped out after a Dr. appointment, so here it is now with a snip that has a similar mood. — This time in TR&TH, someone's also exhausted after a long journey back to his family's home, which is painfully the same as it was when he left. — #WIPSnips #Fanfic

Alexander paused at the entrance to the tent, his hand clenching the flap of the door as he stared at the wear and tear in the softened leather that smelled of hearth and home; the last time he was here was just before he had set out on that journey to what he had once thought was a safe haven, along with the rest of his family and friends. His other hand tightened around the gray bag he held against his aching chest, all too aware of who had returned with him as scrapes of white fur, as he closed his eyes and took a deep breath, steeling his nerves before he pushed aside the flap and entered the place he called home for many years.

As he stepped into the dimly-lit room, he felt the presence of someone and turned his head toward them, expecting to see a familiar face in their usual spot. A moment later, his mind caught up to his heart, which broke into even smaller pieces as he stared at an empty chair, now covered in dust along with a craft project that was a work in progress, and now would never be finished. Alexander looked away from it, only to see some clothes tossed carelessly on the floor that were far too large to be his own, and some dirty bandages not far from them that were similar to the ones now covering his own left eye.

Taking a page out of his partner’s book, Alexander averted his good eye from what he didn’t want to see—to acknowledge because it was too painful, because it reminded him of how powerless he was—as he walked farther into his family’s home, leaving Vergil to stand guard at the entrance. With a limp, he approached the makeshift bed in the back room, his weary body tempted to sink down into its tattered blankets that were still neatly made in a sapien way that his siblings used to playfully tease him about; he stared at it, taking a few labored breaths before he gave into that temptation.

In the blink of an eye, his brother’s pet sapien raised her weapon as well, pointing the barrel of her gun at his face just as he pointed the tip of his sword against her throat; both of them coming to a stalemate as they stood frozen in place. When Vergil looked down into her eyes, he saw not one person glaring back at him, but three; on her left side, he saw his brother’s leather coat in a red orb—on her right side, he saw his partner’s long hair in a green orb. The opposite colors combined made an unholy trinity that he hoped haunted her every time she looked at herself in a mirror, just as those heterochromic eyes had haunted the White Rabbit in every one of his nightmares… To think that she was still here, and he was not… Vergil’s lip curled up into a sneer as he felt his own eyes well with burning tears.

Vergil closed his eyes as the White Rabbit reached the top of his head, covering his short hair in bandages, then he moved downward and covered his face with a second layer; the first of which he was thankful for, as it hid the frown now on it. The White Rabbit was right; every sapien at that wretched place would be familiar with his face, especially one person who saw him every time he looked into a mirror just as he himself always saw him, hence why that was one thing he didn’t allow his partner to collect in this apartment like his blasted clocks and creepy dolls.

“From this moment on until the moment I take them off, you are a sapien by the name of Gilver Blake,” the White Rabbit said as he pinned the end of the bandages beneath the collar of his black shirt, one of his fingers slipping between his throat and the white cotton, checking if they were too tight—Indeed, they were just a bit, he thought as he opened his eyes, but just enough to be a reminder of the marked hand that would be wrapped around his throat later, if they had the time. “A former bounty hunter from a faraway land, who, after a tragic accident, has come to New York City in hopes of starting a new chapter in his life as a mercenary, understood?” the White Rabbit asked him as he stepped back, cocking his head to the side while he lifted a curled finger to his scarred chin, resting it beneath a wide grin as he observed his handiwork.

“Yes, Mr. Todd,” Gilver said, playing along with the ruse as he spoke his partner’s name for the night, except it was not an alias at all, but rather the surname he had been born with, and had forsaken months ago, along with his first: Alexander Todd… Oh, how he longed to call out the first as he had done countless times over the years, both out on the field and beneath the sheets, but he knew better than to look a gift horse in the mouth; the fact he was being allowed to say the last without being corrected with a snarl or a glare was a miracle in and of itself.

And even now, he hadn’t learned his lesson from those mistakes, at least not completely, Gilver thought as he closed the nightstand drawer after replacing the keys with another item, albeit one not as harmful as the others he had brought home for his partner. For a moment, neither of them moved nor made a sound as they stood on opposite sides of the small bed with their heads bowed, deep in thought until the stalemate was broken by the White Rabbit’s cellphone, which rang with a merry tune that always grated on Gilver’s nerves.

“… Yes, Owen; we’re on our way to Bobby’s Cellar now,” the White Rabbit said to his personal informant—an old makaian friend he had met in the country of Ninjhe, who had been among the refugees he had saved, and one of the few Gilver liked, for he was cut from the same cloth as Alexander had been; a pacifist at heart—after he pulled out his cellphone and answered it in a polite tone that didn’t match his miffed expression. After a few more words that Gilver ignored for they were of no interest to him, the White Rabbit ended the call with a snap as he closed the cellphone and returned it to his pocket once more, his hand lingering there until he noticed he was being watched.
