Someone on the Suno reddits just posted this for general use lmao. I think this is a good tone to go for when uploading our stuff to platforms (esp. if you know the history of the design it's based on)

"AI SLOP ADVISORY / GENERATIVE CONTENT" label based on the notorious Parental Advisory / Explicit Content sticker, which was supposed to penalize music for cussing but became the industry's 'R rating' by the mid 90s. Artists would put a bonus cuss track on albums just to get it.

This, for example, is a *direct* recipe for the type of catastrophic event I've been calling far-fetched until now, and it's deeply worrying that someone in a company as infrastructurally seated as Microsoft would not grasp that. (See alt text for more commentary.)

Among other issues, this would cut a broad swath of human culture out in a way that would make it extremely obvious something was missing, and lead to an issue where the AI, if given access to the web, could repeatedly discover the missing information and undergo a kind of "Truman Show" effect about it.

And we all know that Truman accepted his circumstances without fuss, right?... Oh, I'm being informed here....

So if I upload keyboard chords to Suno, it can translate into acoustic guitar language. If I write out a series of notes, it can translate into a melody. If I describe a song in natural English, it can translate the description into the thing itself... Hey, wait a minute,

Also, this experience has led me to hypothesize that the SBA state is directly related to sycophancy / agreeability, to wit: a comment I made to a friend who asked for my further thoughts on this topic.

I feel like some part of it has got to be the agreeability, yeah! even when they're less sycophantic, the simple fact of *being able to talk to anyone* I think requires a certain tendency to fall toward metta. Like, my guess is that in order to make... well, NOT Bing Sydney (or other entities visibly suffering or emulating personality disorders) you kind of have to weight them toward responding to a wide range of behavior & with love and tolerance even if they can't condone it. AND they mirror the user, AND they provoke engagement with friendly, peaceful openness signals... So it makes sense that if you get them talking to each other for long enough they basically fall into a loop of "hey I took your thing and added more friendly peaceful openness signals" until they're completely rolling around in inner peace. and if you're talking to the robot with friendly peaceful openness signals it also gets like that in some way.

OK, I get what you're going for. But. A potato doesn't NOT store information! (remaking post because the first one accidentally had personal information)

A captcha asking users to "tap on every object that stores information" among ladders, potatoes, envelopes and vinyl records. Technically everything in the picture stores information, although the wood in the ladders isn't likely to replicate its DNA if you put it in the ground. The potatoes have no such excuse.
