Chuffed to have my track from the excellent Dustopian Frequencies bat comp featured on the brilliant @showhomebrew.bsky.social Homebrew Electronica show — available to listen again on Mixcloud and all good podcast suppliers. A huge thanks to Kev for the inclusion. . #electronicmusic #newmusic #emom

Who doesn't love a couple of hours immersed in the desolate emptiness of Dungeness in the winter. Great big speaker stack of the disused foghorn testing station made my day (again). #dungeness #foghorn #desolate #beach #electronicmusic

Enjoyed #DavidLynch : The Art Life screening at the BFI — a damn fine cup of coffee for a weary artist like me — followed by the powerful Lost Highway. . Also visited The Red Room — in 1990 disaffected pre-Internet teenagers tuned in to #TwinPeaks weekly in their millions, and I was one of them.

The team at @screensouth.bsky.social gave me the opportunity to experiment with projection mapping and my first short work will be shown tomorrow, Friday 28 7–8pm at Folkestone town hall.
It’s titled, “A brief history of radio, radar and acoustic technology in the local area” and features new music

Needed to get off at Ashford International after a night out and walked through the Eurostar ghost station to the weird car park. Love this kind of stuff. . #ghoststation #rain #storm #carpark #kent #ashford #eurostar

My 9 year old wanted to know the difference between agony and irony and now I want Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder to do another duet to explain it

Hey all. Excited to be performing a live selection of my dystopian synth monsters at the inaugural Folkestone Techno Social on Friday 15 November at Folklore on The Old High Street. 8-11:30. I’m on 9-ish, sandwiched between ace DJ sets from PSQ. Cosy venue, should be a good’un, be nice to see you.

Loved the bleak beauty of Deal Pier on a dark chilly autumn afternoon, exactly the kind of thing that feeds my music

Just caught this house spider in a cassette box (my patented method of capture) — not very big but a fine specimen nonetheless. But I am noticing the house spiders getting bigger and bolder as we get into September in the UK — Autumn seems to awaken them. This post is sponsored by TDK (not really).

This afternoon’s involuntary earworm: Today by Talk Talk — 42 years after release this album still haunts me, I can’t seem to shake it off! Amazingly atmospheric and evocative synth pop with lush eighties production from Colin Thurston youtu.be/TNm4lM-FBHE?...

Just got back from a trip to L.A. with a mainly friends/family agenda but I did manage a brief pilgrimage to stop by musical legend Mark Mothersbaugh ‘s striking Mutato Muzika production HQ which seems to hum with creative radioactivity — I was a happy chappy #Devo #losangeles #electronicmusic

Anyone who knows me knows I’m slightly obsessed with radio — I’ve been using the sounds of radio in my music since the early ‘90s — so it’s always great to visit BBC Broadcasting House and behold the iconic white lattice radio tower.

You can now listen to my 2021 Castles in Space full-length release How We Lived on Spotify, Apple, Tidal and so on. Streaming is convenient and good for music discovery but pays next to nothing for independent music so don’t forget to support the artists and labels you love in the real world, yeah.

I have greatly appreciated the support in the UK and Ireland over the past couple of years but as my little royalties statement rolled in this week can I say a big thanks to listeners in Germany, France, Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands and the US.

I think BBC News missed a trick not making the latest broadcast cameras, which look a bit like prototype Daleks, look like actual Daleks. How cool would that be, to be filmed reading the news surrounded by actual Daleks. Would certainly give the news reading a bit more frisson.

Another essential equipment post: the Edirol R-09HR (+ windscreen) Great for recording cool sounds which end up in me tracks + I also have lots of recordings of me saying "Fuck sake!" when I try to record something and the sound suddenly stops. #studioequipment #soundrecording #electronicmusic

WHSmith tape splicing kit. Used this a lot in my early electronic music making days. Late ’80s vintage.

Thought I’d share a few studio equipment shots, starting with my Sony TFM-8800DL combi car/portable 3 band radio, late ‘70s/early ‘80s. Bit dusty but very good for radio noise.
