pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Just sit there until it is safe to pass. It’s not creepy, it’s considerate. Just don’t drive too close and tail gate. That can feel like you are hurrying them up. 030
pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 14/09/2026The key wording is “safely pass”. I have no problems with that, it’s the ones who don’t obey the Highway Code and squeeze past at high speed that annoy me. Also if they do so, only to then turn in front of me 2 secs later. I mean, come on, just wait the little bit extra to be safe and considerate. 010
pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I have been overtaken on my bike (a close pass as well) by a taxi, only to pass it 5 mins later as it is stuck in traffic. They will get annoyed about a bike, but accept the traffic. Driving a car really does prevent critical thinking about transport. 230
pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 14/09/2026True, but even when they do see you they can cut you off, or pass close, or race to get ahead, just to turn in front of you 2 secs later. It’s like their convenience trumps your right to be safe. 020

pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 16/08/2026Today was very much a bike solidarity day today. I saw many other people out in their bikes while I ride to and from the Uni today. Everyone of them gave me the nod as we passed going in opposite directions. Some even gave voice to shared recognition. Just thought I'd share. 010

pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 07/08/2026My take as I, on my legal pedal assist, was over taken up a hill by an "illegal" modified e bike rider who was not pedaling? "Hey that was nice and quiet. He should get that licensed, but at least he isn't riding a motorbike or driving a car and passing too close, and making climate change worse." 030
pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 03/08/2026Not to down play the issue, but most of those look like the sort of marketing waffle most institutions come up with as "Strategic Mission statements." pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 15/07/2026Of course! Unfortunately, I live in a balanced state of deficit right now in regards to that equation. (Only n bikes right now). A trailer will likely be coming instead. 010
pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 15/07/2026Never too many bikes. The correct number of bikes is n+1, where n is your current number of bikes. 110
pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 09/07/2026My hot take: bike lanes, and mixed use cycle paths are not really for the convenience of Cyclists. They are for the convenience of car drivers. Basically, they are so those of us riding a bike don't slow a driver down. Why is a drivers convenience more important than a cyclists? 010

pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 11/06/2026I know some like to say using an e-bike is cheating, but I will only say this in reply: "There is no way I would have put that sort of milage in the acoustic in a similar time frame, especially as the commute that forms all this milage has two rather large hills." 010

pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 18/05/2026I hit 36 mph down hill on the way home. This is down the hill that made me get an E bike for the commute in the first place. I've done the same speed on an acoustic bike as well. Gravity is my friend. 010
pgmm03.bsky.social @pgmm03.bsky.social · 18/05/2026Also, the bike itself, whether "acoustic" or "electric", is a cheat. It's a way to go farther and faster with less effort. Add in modern gearing, and even more so. So those bike bro jabronis should get over themselves. 030

Labradog can come and ride my commute on his acoustic, or my E-bike and tell me it's not a workout either way. One is just a bit faster. 180
