A 5 gallon glass jar filled with blanched peppers, cauliflower, slices of celery root, (țelină) horseradish (hrean), carrots and my wife's secret pickling spice mixture.

The gutuie (goo-twee) have begun to ripen

Gutuie fruit, aka quince, we will grate with a cheese grater and cook down with some sugar for jam. We have a large selection of jams we make from apricots , cherries, apples, figs and plums from our trees.

I believe this is a European stag beetle.

I placed my hand in the pic for scale. I placed it in the garden after this. No insects were harmed by making this photo.
