A refugee from the 'other place' whose owner's values I could no longer support. Relieved that the Tories are GONE! Peace and prosperity comes from collaboration with EU partners.

And this is 100% on everyone who voted for Brexit... not the EU, not remainers, not even those who didn't vote in the ref... it's 100% on every single Brexit voter... it's what they voted for.

They (Labour) should reverse Brexit then... back in the single market will give a 4 to 8% lift in GDP (depending on forecasts).

The Tories, especially under Badenoch, are in their final death throes of existance... at best, they'll be a 4th/5th place protest party in the English shires... and good riddance!

I can't see any other UK party holding a referendum on anything... it'll be in a party's manifesto to rejoin and then a defacto referendum via a general election.

Age is a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010... let's hope the mobility scheme is challenged so that we can all benefit from it. The easiest way is a full rejoin, without delay.

All the more reason to go further and faster to rejoining the EU! Perhaps Starmer is just dipping his toe to see the public's reaction before cracking on a bit more (hopefully). He'll have to drop his ridiculous mantra of 'no SM/CU/FoM' though.

Putting aside the legalities of it... 48.1% of the UK public didn't vote for Brexit in the first place... poll after poll shows that many of the 51.9% who did vote for it now regret it (and many have since died). Any party now harking back to Brexit being a good thing are doomed.

Philippe Floppe @pfloppe.bsky.social · 09/05/2025
There'll come a point, and soon, where Starmer's going to have to come off the fence and call Brexit out for the failure that it is... or make way for someone else who will be honest with the public.

Exactly, by Starmer trying to out-Reform Reform, it legitimises Reform's policies rather than challenge and crush them.

Canadian and Australian right wing leaders both lose their seats within weeks. Meanwhile UK Labour thinks going to the right is the way to win, even though the right reject them and the left are alienated by them. Read the f*ing room. More importantly, feel the threat from progressive voters.

He's just a 'shockateur'... the way to deal with him (and drive him absolutely crazy) is to completely and utterly ignore him... blank him, starve him of any attention, bandwidth, column inches. Don't let him live rent free in your head!

Philippe Floppe @pfloppe.bsky.social · 02/05/2025
Might not be a popular opinion... but if I were Starmer, I'd use these local election results to hold a mini-reshuffle and move Reeves out of #11.

All eyes on their ability to deliver now... How are things going in Clacton?... jobs, waiting lists, social care, housing, potholes, education, etc, etc... has their ReformUK MP transformed things for the better?

Philippe Floppe @pfloppe.bsky.social · 02/05/2025
Still one council to go and ReformUK just 4 councillors away from finishing on 666.

Philippe Floppe @pfloppe.bsky.social · 02/05/2025
So Starmer rigidly sticks to no EU single market, customs union or FoM... stick to hard #Brexit... for fear of Reform making gains... now Reform makes gains! He has nothing to lose and all to gain by #RejoinEU.

Philippe Floppe @pfloppe.bsky.social · 02/05/2025
And only 1600 out of c.17000 councillors in England were up for grabs today. We shouldn't view these results as representative of a UK general election.

The only good thing about these results is that it will be crystal clear by the time of the next election that people's lives will not be transformed by empty Reform promises... potholes, care, crime, education, etc won't magically transform in Reform-run councils.

Starmer can't out-Farage Farage... he needs to get back to core Labour values (and reverse Brexit)... offer a real alternative instead of pander to rascists/xenophobes. If not, UK politics will become ReformUK vs LibDems.

So much winning... thats a beautiful 0.3 percent, it's probably the best 0.3 percent negative growth in the history of economics. If Biden hadn't grown the economy so much, we'd never have been able to reach -0.3%... THIS IS ALL DOWN TO BIDEN (and China, Mexico, Canada, Europe)!!!

It's a great start... but why the cutoff at 30?... what's good for 18-30s is good for all of us. I'm not a fan of salami slicing, the evidence is strong for a rejoin (or at least SM/CU/FoM for all).

Imagine if [insert dictatorship] had annexed, say, Alaska... would Trump accept it and roll over to some third party 'peace negotiator' if the said dictatorship was now involved in a full-scale invasion of the rest of the USA? The guy's a joke.

Philippe Floppe @pfloppe.bsky.social · 22/04/2025
I have zero faith in Starmer doing the right thing... but he might just get these May local elections of the way and then at least rejoin the SM/CU. He'll never have a stronger case (backed by evidence) than now for doing so.
