Calling Baz’s season mediocre when he finished 21st among SP in fWAR with 3.4 sure is a…choice of words!

i worry that men think being A Good Guy is dramatically and heroically intervening on behalf of an endangered woman and then being publicly rewarded on a grand scale when actually being A Good Guy is just usually saying, “hey man that’s not funny” or “wow that’s fucked up” and there is no reward

not trying to be that guy jumping in invite but Those 1b don’t necessarily have negative WAR because the stat thinks they are bad at 1b. WAR doesn’t value 1b defense as much as it does other positions, so that’s why no 1b has much defensive value in WAR

Thanks to all the O’s sim I’ve done in OOTP, and my obsession with the franchise leaderboards in that game, I’m like 99% certain that’s a top 10 O’s season for home runs. Not even gonna look, book it!

Does compatible with Libby mean download will go straight to the device if I check the book out through my Libby app on phone? Or do I have to download book hooked up to computer like Nook?

Pete Alonso deserves to experience a postseason game at Camden yards. I hope this stupid franchise gives that to him next season.

For any aviation nerds: is there any way to look at historical radar? Like a flight radar 24 but I can punch in a certain time from earlier today and see the flight radar from then.

When I first got into sabermetrics, one major shift in my thinking was how I thought of “average” players. An MLB roster filled with 26 average players would be a very good team!

This is partially a credit to Mayo, who has been good (and elite vs LHP) but also because Gunnar, Holliday, Basallo, Cowser, and Beavers have ranged from very meh to bad.

010

Paddy Holden @pfholden.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Coby Mayo possibly finishing the season with the highest wRC+ among Orioles homegrown players was not on my 2026 bingo card. He’s currently at 110 and the next closest is Beavers at 100.

Paddy Holden @pfholden.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

also don’t forget you’re supposed to be a homer and love the orioles as if you are a diehard fan

So many excellent takes in here, thank you for your bravery! The strongest of agrees on 1) Pittsburgh being amazing, but also lacking 2) Detroit being a sleeper pick for top five (had my wedding photos taken in front of the giant tiger out front 😎)

But what if those fans jumped ship? Are they now allowed to get back on? Previous comments suggest there's no re-entry on Craig's ship, but I don't want to put words in his mouth.

Paddy Holden @pfholden.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

Yeah but didn’t you know the pitcher-catcher relationship is worth at least .400 in average so he’s basically a .488 hitter

Paddy Holden @pfholden.bsky.social · 05/09/2026

I think most managers are fine and I usually don’t have strong opinions on them. But man, I’m so out on this dude. The Basallo stuff, praising the Padres after they repeatedly targeted Gunnar, questionable decision making, and consistently sucks at talking to the media.
