Many people who follow me are scientists. It is hard to get funding to do science right now. There is a new way of funding science I learned about today. A very competent botanist and mycologist friend just posted a request for funding for their biodiversity study, which was on this platform. Cool!

Maine has only one endemic plant, Furbish's lousewort. It is extremely endangered, found only along the St. John River along the northern border with Canada. Almost 10 years ago, I set out to do something useful with the University students enrolled in my Plant Taxonomy class focused on this plant.

We need a state to national movement of ballot initiatives to ban law enforcement wearing masks. The only reasons I can see they have widely adopted this practice are to intimidate and terrorize civilians and enable them to do bad things without accountability.

I love public radio (eg. Maine Public mainepublic.org) and community radio (WERU.org). Both depend on Corporation for Public Broadcasting funding (cpb.org) that comes from Congress.
