Sydney, Australia's celebration was held at the famous Bondi surfing beach. There was a flag march along the promenade, followed by an event in the nearby Returned Servicemen's club overlooking the beautiful beach.

And we're left with our cat-loving Ukraine-loving friends on Bluesky, which is very pleasant !

All six of our adopted tuxies in our large cat household over the last few decades, have been supplied via variants of the UCDS. Uncanny tuxie thing!

Cecil B deMound, the brush turkey who lives in our garden, has spent this short Winter's day here, building his enormous nesting mound where, when Spring arrives, he will "entertain" his many henfriends. He hopes you are enjoying the northern Summer, and that your mound-building was truly a success.

Our Miss Dixie was recently subjected to The Cone Of Shame, after she had injured a paw, which then became infected. In her opinion, the psychological harm of the cone far exceeded that of the impact of the affected paw. She is now free of both afflictions, and is happy to have all four paws back.

Our Cedric Diggintray Fishbreath, is far from graceful, and is famous for his weird sleeping positions. He actually sleeps for hours like this.

Our Dixie and Cedric enjoy a Churu treat, or at least the very last few molecules of Churu left in its packaging. All Churu must be devoured.

I'm at the annual Ukifest in Sydney right now. Music, culture and food, outdoors on a sunny autumn day. Waiting for Kalush Orchestra to perform next. Thinking of you all.

Our 8 cats all got their annual vaccinations this week. Our youngest, 18 month old Miss Sansa, waited patiently for her turn, politely sitting in the vet's washbasin.

In return for a donation to the fund to buy generators, I received a genuine babousia-knitted handmade teddy bear and a blue and yellow cookie. Our Miss Dixie fell in love with the teddy straight away, and expressed an interest in the tasty cookie.

The major theme was care for children abducted by Russia, concern for a generation of young children who have only known war, and fund raising for generators to keep schools operating and warm.

2) More from the Ukrainian National Day observance in Sydney. (Image descriptions are in the ALTs)
The flag will be touring Australian cities in the next few weeks.Speeches were given, acknowledging the efforts of the armed forces and the people, and thanks were given to Australia's ongoing support, including for providing a shipment of tanks, which have mostly already been delivered. The national anthem and more folk songs were sung.It was an amazing experience for us to see in real life so many of the people and things we here normally ever see only on TV news or the Internet.

Here is the unfurling of the gigantic Ukrainian flag in Sydney today. A beautiful and memorable day. --->1
The crowd gathers at Barangaroo Park on the hrbourSeveral hundred volunteers carried the flag on to the lawn to unroll it. Plenty of vyshyvanka worn, floral decorations and blue and yellow badges and ribbons seen. A pair of baboussias in the crowd spontaneously sang folk songs as the flag was unfurled.Led by special guests, a Lt Colonel from the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the head of Odessa's civil defence. The flag measured about 40x150m. All this got shown on national television.

Our two new kittens, Cedric (black tuxie) and Sansa (white tabby) assure me they are Abbobee experts, as long as there is some cream in it for them. They are 4 months old, and bring our household up to 8 cats.
