People use "my darling" when they haven't bothered to learn your name. Then it becomes a habit.

These are two different one pot meals. Magreb people do not mix Tagine with Couscous. It would be like having spaghetti bolognaise with chips

It is not really double taxation. For many estates that pay inheritance tax the gain in the estate that took them over the threshold came from rising property values that were never taxed. Maybe we should tax those capital gains instead.

Though tbf few people know where Azerbaijan is let alone that they committed a genocide in Armenia. Personally, I would be comfortable with Eurovision only including countries in the continent of Europe not including Russia and Belarus, because of the war, and Turkey, because it is mostly in Asia

Design of cycle path infrastructure has been a local authority disaster zone for years. Complex road traffic design for active travel needs expertise and standards not amateur local solutions

Pensioners do not pay tax on the first £12,570 of their pension anyway. For 2026-7 the full pension is 12,548. So we never paid much or any tax on it. The more important question is why is there an upper earnings limit on National Insurance and why don't richer pensioners pay NI or tax on ISAs.

UK good at integration despite having no integration policies. So is it because of the mix of our migrant communities? Or is it because our migrant communities provide more mutual aid? Or maybe because we speak English because language is a real barrier in Germany, Netherlands and Scandi countries.

The UK's migrants come from a more diverse group of countries than many of our European neighbours. France for example has an estimated 6 million people with Maghrebian heritage, mostly from rural backgrounds in Algeria and Morocco. Germany has a high proportion of Turkish and now Syrian migrants.

This is the key aspect. It isn't so much the places left behind as the people left behind (by emigration). Also, fewer incomers. So a residual, bitter population remains.

Our Yale had two tiny bolts in the face by the latch which had become loose. We applied blue loctite to the threads and did them up tight with a screwdriver. This helped the latch to fit properly.

Inner city policy with a focus on deprived areas has existed since 1967 with the implementation of the Plowden report recommendations to boost funding for schools in these areas. It was followed by dozens of initiatives: urban programme, inner city partnerships, single regeneration budget.
