Tough one, I'll give you two ansers: - JKL is unintuitive for hotkeys. I've made the game so you don't need a mouse and thought this is a good position for them. - Using a turn for active/consumables was perceived as not worth it, when there are some area effect, insta kill, powerup items

He also did it in super fair way, on his discord, you can recommend games/indies/demos and you'll get on his list, then rolls the dice to pick from suggestions and his own list in an alternating fashion. While I watched, every day started with 80+ suggestsions! SO LUCKY!
