Here is a screenshot of the app on the phone. You get to see all the segments on your screen so you know which 'page' is being talked about. You can pause or go back/forward at the pace you are comfortable with (though you are urged to move along and not dawdle).

Doubt they'd do that again given the terrible publicity. The waiting was frustrating but to be honest, I have been to many events when the waiting was longer. The exhibition was fabulous and the free audio app (they supply earphones) brilliantly done so effectively controls the speed once you're in

Which queue?! When you eventually get down to the Tapestry level it'll be c45 more minutes on top of the c45 on the upper level!

Indeed, saw it in France some 30 years ago but good to see it back where it started life!

If anyone is lucky to have a ticket for the Bayeux Tapestry exhibition at the British Museum, or plans to try and get one (next public batch on sale in 2 weeks), allow plenty of time and waiting. Two & a half hours of which 35 minutes is the actual viewing. That said, it is a wonderful thing to see!

Visiting the Bayeux Tapestry exhibition at the British Museum. Despite the no photography dictate, the astrophotographer in me had to capture Halley's Comet! Managed to avoid detection 🤣

That is why next summer will be a huge draw for us Brits to go to southern Spain after which the next one in Europe is 2081.

A few hours last night to capture The Triangulum Galaxy, also catalogued as Messier 33 (M33). A stunning face-on spiral galaxy located approximately 2.73 to 3 million light-years from Earth. #astronomy #astrophotography
The Triangulum Galaxy is the third-largest member of the Local Group of galaxies, trailing only behind the massive Andromeda Galaxy and our own Milky Way.
It is roughly 60,000 light-years in diameter (about 60% the width of the Milky Way), the galaxy contains an estimated 40 billion stars.

One more shot from earlier this morning. A Lunar Halo at 3am with bright stars Capella and Aldebaran inside the illuminated ring of ice #astronomy #astrophotography @metoffice.gov.uk
A lunar halo is an optical phenomenon that occurs when a large, bright ring forms around the Moon. This happens when moonlight is refracted (bent) by millions of hexagonal ice crystals suspended in high-altitude cirrus or cirrostratus clouds, usually located 20,000 feet (6,000 metres) or higher in the atmosphere.

I took this photo at 05.50 this morning. 75.9% waning gibbous Moon. The sky was brilliantly clear for once before sunrise after which I went back to bed before taking another when I eventually woke up! (see previous post). #astronomy #astrophotography

Every other club is a victim of this horrendous cheating, lying and sheer corruption. Some more than others but the only sane result is to completely eradicate their results from the record. I dread the future if any club claims compensation or restitution.

Thanks Claire. It was a very warm day yesterday so I expect a bit of heat haze still lurking. London is still the capital despite the introduction of No10 North! Fortunately for me, the big attractions like the museums haven't abandoned us!

This evening's 84% waxing Moon rising through the 'Belt of Venus'. Nothing to do with the planet but the anti-twilight arch is a beautiful atmospheric phenomenon that appears as a glowing pink or rosy band in the sky during twilight. #astronomy #astrophotography
As the Sun dips below the western horizon, the Earth blocks its light from reaching the lower atmosphere in the east. This projects a distinct dark, blue-grey band along the opposite horizon, which is literally the shadow of our own planet cast onto the sky.

The Pink Glow: Directly above this shadow, the upper atmosphere is still bathed in the very last rays of direct sunlight. Because the light has traveled a long distance through the dense atmosphere, shorter blue wavelengths have been filtered out, leaving only reddened light. If you are watching a clear sunset, turning completely around and looking toward the eastern horizon reveals this stunning layer suspended right above the dark blue-grey shadow of the Earth. Can you spot the Moon?
