We've passed new laws this week to strengthen gun laws, introduce a national gun buyback, and combat antisemitism, hate and extremism.

Got a student debt? You’ll pay up to $50 less a fortnight from today.

Your time off should be your own, that’s why Labor made the right to disconnect law – because you shouldn’t be on call 24/7 if you’re not paid 24/7. That’s just one way Labor is protecting workers – we’ve also recently passed new laws to protect penalty rates on minimum and award wages.

Labor is bringing life-changing medicines into reach for every Australian, because you shouldn't have to worry about the cost to get the care you need. Medicines for breast cancer, Parkinson's disease and more were tens of thousands of dollars, from January 1 - just $25.

PASSED: Our bill to make cheaper medicines even cheaper - just $25 a script! We've passed legislation to make medicines on the PBS cheaper, and from January 1, you won't have to pay more than $25 for a PBS script.

Over the past three years under the Albanese Labor Government, the minimum wage has increased by 22.7%. Under Labor, real wages are up, inflation is down, unemployment is low, incomes are growing, and we’ve had two interest rate cuts in three months.

The Fair Work Commission’s today has announced a 3.5% increase from 1 July 2025 following the Albanese Labor Government’s submission recommending an economically suitable real wage increase to Australian workers. That's an additional $1,669 per year for a full-time worker. #auspol #melbourne

Thank you to all SES and emergency personnel for their life saving work in keeping people out of harms way. Tomorrow, I will be heading to the Hunter and Mid North Coast regions to assist in the coordination of Department of Defence and Federal Government resources.

As of Monday, the Australian Government have deployed ADF personnel to support the flood emergency response, assisting emergency services with planning, welfare checks, clearing routes, engineering work, and re-establishing access to critical infrastructure.

📣 Just Announced: $3.7mil from a re-elected Albanese Government to upgrade Linear Parklands in North Fitzroy, North Carlton and Princes Hill! This funding commitment is only possible if a federal Labor government is re-elected - and every seat counts to re-elect Labor. #auspol #melbourne

That’s just one way we’re taking care of your health – along with an $8 billion investment into Medicare, and a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Coburg and Clifton Hill. The choice is clear on May 3, and every Labor seat lost gets Dutton one step closer to gutting Medicare.

A re-elected Albanese Labor Government will cut the cost of PBS medicine to no more than $25, or $7.70 if you’re a pensioner. I visited Pharmacy 777 in Pascoe Vale and heard from Sara and other pharmacists on how this change will help thousands of their patients every year. #auspol #melbourne

We've strengthened the PBS with two new medicines added today – Dabrafenib and trametinib for eligible children diagnosed with low-grade glioma or high-grade glioma with the BRAF V600E mutation. Without the PBS subsidy, families would have to pay $178,000 for a year of treatment.

Since we’ve come to Government, families paying for 30 hours of childcare per week are now $2,768 better off since September 2023, while under the Liberals, childcare prices rose by 49%.

The three-day guarantee replaces the current Activity Test from January 2026, with guaranteed eligibility for 3 days a week of early education for children who need it. This will save an average of $1,370 for eligible families.

The choice is clear on May 3, and every Labor seat lost, no matter what party it is lost to, gets Peter Dutton one step closer to gutting Medicare. The only way to lock in a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic is to vote Labor in Wills.

These clinics take pressure off our hospital emergency departments by treating for urgent issues like cuts, burns and breaks. We’ve all known a situation where we’ve needed more than a GP but less than an emergency department. That’s exactly why these clinics are needed in our community.

In our electorate, properties priced up to $950,000 are now eligible for the scheme. Help to Buy participants on average will save $1000 a month on their mortgage when buying an existing home, and over $1300 per month when buying a new home.

Peter Khalil MP @peterkhalilmp.bsky.social · 28/03/2025
Our changes mean that more first home buyers will be eligible to apply and 5 million properties (65% of homes around the country) will now be eligible to buy. We’re lifting the income caps to $100k for singles or $160k for joint applicants, and lowering the deposit required to just 2%.

We’re also decarbonising Australia’s industries, with a $2bil Green Aluminium Production Credit to transition smelters to renewable energy. This builds on our existing $22.7 billion Future Made in Australia agenda to position Australia to be a leader in the global transformation to clean energy.

We're opening a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in #Coburg and another nearby in Clifton Hill, which will provide fully bulk billed urgent care. Everyone agrees that it shouldn’t be a hassle to see a doctor – that’s why these two new Medicare Urgent Care Clinics are so important.

The Albanese Labor Government is strengthening Medicare – that’s why our budget last night contains the largest ever investment into #Medicare since its creation 41 years ago. That includes funding for 50 new Medicare Urgent Care Clinics we’re opening if re-elected. #auspol #melbourne

One of the ways we’re reducing the cost of living is cutting taxes for all 14 million taxpayers. A worker on $79,000 will benefit by $268 in 2026-27, and $536 per year from 2027-2028. For an average income earner, that means around $30,000 less in tax over the next decade compared to 2023-24.
