A couple of days ago, Australia post started a promo with HBO for the Harry Potter TV series. It you noticed the app logo changed to incorporate an owl, that's why. A bunch of people sent in complaints about the association with that revolting TERF JK Rowling. Today they replied. Partnership ended!
Screenshot of an email from AusPost replying to my complaint sent in yesterday. It reads:

Thank you for contacting Australia Post.

Australia Post is an inclusive organisation that values diversity and is committed to fostering a respectful and welcoming environment for all people, including LGBTQIA+ communities.

The Harry Potter Owl Post Experience was a promotional fan event delivered in partnership with HBO Max to celebrate letter writing and provide an engaging experience for Harry Potter fans.

We apologise if the activation has left you disappointed. We understand your concerns and your feedback has been heard and shared with the relevant teams. As a result, the partnership has now ended. Your feedback will also inform how we think about future partnerships and activations.

I highlighted "As a result" and added exclamation marks after the following sentence.

A powerful article from Abdaljawad Omar @hamayel.bsky.social "Gaza and the Problem of Moral Stupidity" gets to the bottom of something I've only half-understood up until now, with useful intellectual context. www.equator.org/articles/moral-stup…
Moral stupidity, understood this way, signals the unbearable in negative form, marking the place where recognition was refused precisely because recognition was available. These people act morally stupidly not because they know nothing, but because they know too much – and because what they know, if inhabited fully, would cost them their world.

Screenshot from Stereogum of a news article titled "Singer-Songwriter Pleads Guilty To Defrauding Streaming Services Of $8 Million With Ai-Generated Songs".
The hero pic features a man, apparently 39 years old at the time, wearing a hat (trilby maybe?) and a white t-shirt, holding a guitar, standing in front of a wall with a huge multi-coloured graffiti tag (I mean, it's just a big tag, with some background green splotches. It's probably not even real graffiti). He's photographed from an angle, staring into middle distance, hoping to look soulful.

Tells you everything you need to know really. Quote-unquote "Jewish leaders" concerned that the Royal Commissioner on Bondi will be "too left-leaning". And Frydenberg further detailing that they want someone to deliver the right(-wing) conclusions. (cont'd)
Crikey this morning quoting SMH:
It also notes some Jewish leaders in NSW have expressed concern over the potential appointment of Bell “over their belief she might be too left-leaning”.

Former Liberal treasurer Josh Frydenberg responded to the coverage last night by posting a statement on X declaring: “The Prime Minister has been told directly by leaders of the Jewish community that they have serious concerns about this appointment,” adding: “Prime Minister, I appeal to you, this is the time to do the right thing and call a Commonwealth Royal Commission with the appointment of the right Commissioner whose leadership will provide the answers and solutions our country so urgently needs.”

The report in the SMH also says Bell declined to comment when contacted by the newspaper and that Jewish leaders “have privately acknowledged they risk blowback from the wider community if they appear to be making political attacks against the royal commission after the prime minister yields”.

Nice of Robert Smith (er, "Robert Smith") to give me a shoutout in the comments on @australia.theguardian.com's fbi.radio article. Read the article, and then read the dumb AI comment from "FredNurker". What even is radio for? www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...
Comment from Robert_Smith_1989, a Guardian Pick, reads:

I discovered this amazing station back in 2012, and it was such a relief from all the commercial dirge. Actual people who cared about interesting music. There was this show called Ears Have Ears. Amazing!!

I kept listening after moving back to Europe, and it’s still essential. Particularly Peter Hollo’s show on Sunday Night..I’m just in awe as to where he finds some of this fascinating music, and the work put in to write such highly detailed descriptions of it and more about the various record labels etc. A great example of what FBI radio do best.

Long may they reign their musical treats over us.
