Extraordinary statement. Sexual assault cases can really test a prosecutor’s office, and grand jury secrecy rules when no indictment is delivered make it especially complex The district attorney explained why he reopened the Cornell investigation. Read the document: www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

A good example and reminder: a public report after an investigation can change behavior and do the public good - even when no criminal charges are filed.

The ILO case alone answers the question of who our next Gov and AG should be. Foulkes. Hoffmann. Both will be smart, fearless, independent leaders in the two most important positions in state government. Exactly what we need.

Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
Solomon and Knight - neither of whom to my knowledge have ever conducted a complicated multi-year investigation - would have issued the report but not “editorialized”. They would not have given an opinion a bid rigging statute was needed since Governor steered a contract to friends w/o consequence?
130
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
Second, during AG debate, despite our report directly leading to passage of an anti-bid rigging law, Kim Ahern said she would not have issued the report. Oddly, she seemed to think we used a grand jury. We didn’t. Hence the report. She said she would have said nothing about ILO were she AG.

Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 14/08/2026
First, the fact that the Governor steered a 10 million contract to his friends and received thousands of dollars worth of free communication services from those friends - as RISP found and we analyzed in our report - has never been contradicted by Gov nor anyone else. Fact: McKee rigged a bid.

Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
8. The truth is that only Keith Hoffmann has ever - ever - held a leadership position in the Office - at any level. He’s the only candidate that any AG has ever entrusted to run anything. That’s why he’s the only one, in my view, ready to take the baton and run.
143
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
7. Ms. Ahern keeps telling the voters she’s worked for three AGs. I’m one of them. She worked for me as a line mid-level prosecutor for about three months.
131
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
6. Corollary to Mr. Knights no legislators on the Supreme Court rule - they shouldn’t occupy the AG’s office either, given the corruption that has historically one out of that branch of government. Just puts a former legislator AG in an impossible position.
121
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
5. Mr. Solomon’s credentials seem especially thin - I don’t think I’ve even seen being a bail commissioner argued as a qualification for AG before - and I disagree with his anti gun safety and pro-life positions.
131
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
4. Ms. Ahern’s cannabis agency leadership was rightly called into question by the moderators - failing to issue any licenses in three years - which benefited existing license holders to the tune of millions of dollars - is dubious at best. And blaming the General Assembly was not persuasive.
141
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
3. Mr. Knight’s description of our Criminal Division as “a backwater” - b/c we are also focusing on energy prices/clean energy, healthcare, consumer protection, & Trump is misplaced - we’re capable of doing it all well b/c we’ve added 33 positions since 2019 & our talent is significantly better.
201
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
Here - telling the public what happened and explain to public as press conference why we needed a new bid rigging law to prevent such conduct is what the public should expect from their AG. And - how was our Diocese report and press conference any different? Did they take issue with that too?
101
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
2. I found it curious that the other 3 candidates wouldn’t have issued the ILO report in which we analyzed the State Police’s findings that McKee steered the 10 million ILO contract to his friends vs. advice of his own administration because I “editorialized”. That’s what AG’s get paid to do.
101
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 13/08/2026
I enjoyed the AG debate the other night! 1. Keith Hoffmann demonstrated why I encouraged him to run and why I endorsed him after 7 years working together - and during which he consistently earned promotions. He has the breadth of experience needed - and the smarts - to lead the office. 🧵

Add to that the double digit increases RI Energy is seeking for the DISTRIBUTION side of your bill - and which we just spent 18 DAYS in hearings fighting before the PUC. It’s not the clean energy part of the bill that’s killing us. It’s RI Energy greed. Aided by McKee’s electoral desperation.

And when we went to court to fight Trump for breaking the law and stopping Revolution Wind - and won - the head of the Connecticut public utility thanked our team for protecting this needed project. From RI Energy: “we don’t care how energy is generated.” They sure do. Don’t let them fool you.
011
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
They claim they don’t care how energy is generated, they just supply it. That’s nonsense - at every opportunity they try to lay the blame for high energy costs on the incentives we need to for RI’ers to take up the clean energy solutions we need to fight climate change.
100
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
More recently, they worked a “deal” with the Governor to move up payments RI’ers were entitled to, but used a formula so unfair to RI’ers that they pulled the plan after we objected before the PUC.
110
Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
Now here’s a few examples of RI Energy trying to gaslight RI’ers. In the transfer from National Grid a few years ago, they tried to pass over a 100 million dollars in bogus “transition” costs onto RI’ers.

Peter Neronha @peterfneronha.bsky.social · 21/07/2026
Let’s talk clean energy and Rhode Island Energy! The CEO tells GoLocal I’m “confused” when I call them a fossil fuel company. RIE is owned by PPL in Pennsylvania. PPL owns gas generating power plants and is building more. Gas is a fossil fuel. You are who you are owned by. Get it now?

Birthright citizenship. Public health, education. Infrastructure funding. Library funding. Revolution Wind. And much much more. Some other candidates claim they’ll be “Trump fighters.” Keith Hoffmann has not only already done it, he’s already led it. Vote Keith.
