Hopeless romantic in 2019 believing that Lab and Everton could both come back from the dead. I'll take 1/2.

What, not even when Gerrard fell over?

Sanctimonious twaddle issuing from a fan base which has conveniently forgotten it's role in the deaths of opposition fans. Money is one thing, life is precious.

Why does anyone print this? Trading WITHIN the UK was never the business of the EU beyond common safety standards most of which the UK influenced.

You'd have been top four with a win. Then you'd never have posted that. Give the man a chance, your best players were sold.

George's attitude. Dibling showing a bit of direction in his game. Garner, Branthwaite, Grealish all getting fitter. Moyes giving Armstrong a lot of freedom & us coping on the turnover, his flicks on Saturday notwithstanding. We've a RB, let's not bollock MN just yet eh lads? We have a bench.

At season's start Evertonian's would be delighted to sit joint 4th at this stage, but still some moan. Positives Barry, 3 goals from 4.4xG. Yes it should have been more but he's getting better & leads the line well. Defence, best in PL on GA. This despite not having favoured/fit DMs.

It is well documented that Johnson was excluded from sensitive briefings, in particular those which might have revealed sources wrt Russia, given his open relationship with ex(?) KGB agents.

Early days. If you'd won you'd have gone third and be talking of CL. The truth lies between you are and where you might have been. Give it until Xmas.

They were so good that they were destroyed at the 2015 election, votes falling from 7m to 2½m, and now bumps along at around 3½m. So underappreciated for their massive achievement in sustaining the savagery of a Tory govt. Vote Lib Dem get not what you expected.

Sex was much easier in the back of a 2CV. A clear winner. And, with four doors, it meant that the results of said adventures could be easily catered for.

The cost of political correspondents at the BBC is ridiculous. why do they need so many? Mason present himself, through his constant use of quotes from un-named individuals, as being in the know. I can't recall him ever breaking a real story or offering any real insight.

All PL clubs have set up structures which minimise tax paid by players/managers and agents over the years. HMRC have a special unit to ensure that such avoidance schemes are legal.

Now you are desperate. Brown persuaded the US, and others followed, away from spending cuts and towards a more supportive policy on public expenditure. The Tories and their acolytes ditched that. NHS cuts Education cuts University fees Foreign aid slashed Defence spending stalled Welfare savaged

You know the one about PR, that referendum. My guess would be that, two decades on, the scrapping of Sure Start, tax breaks for the wealthy and Osborne's austerity might tilt the balance somewhat.

Dream on. What did they achieve other than a rigged referendum? And an increase in student fees.

Running LG, where virtually every penny is accounted for to run long established services, with opposition councillors who know the job is a far cry to developing national monetary, financial, social, justice, foreign & defence policies. cf the LDs. They did so well in govt. having run LG. Not.

When results are declared in UK elections the number of ballots deemed intelligible is given. It's usually a handful in 30-40k. Anything above that would be noticed.

If you believe that any of that is due to Polanski rather than voters discontent with the main parties and a desire to thwart Reform I feel for you.

Peter Lee @peterelee.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
An environmental protest/promotion group has a mountain to climb in becoming a rounded political party of the left. It was clear a long time ago that the homeless malcontents of the further left would seize any opportunity for relevance. And so they have, Polanski being an early adopter.

I still am. The first mistake was electing Corbyn. None of this has anything to do with whether or not Palantir provides value for money with it's analytical software.

If you are selling commercial analytics programmes do you have you an obligation to refuse a sale because of what might be done with it? With regard to the NHS is there evidence that Palantir itself has been able to gather data to itself?

Peter Lee @peterelee.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
With regard to it's links to undesirable entities I am reminded of the 1970's campaign to convince students not to bank with Barclay's because of it's S African business. As one guy said, "They all have business in S Africa."

Don't know enough about Palantir and it's business to make any judgement, which is why I asked what the original letter from Watson had said. I'm not sure if I have the capacity to understand the technical details of what they do, I suspect that'd true of many critics.
100
Peter Lee @peterelee.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
You're correct in that I have no idea what Watson wrote. If I did I'd have engaged differently & I'd have been slow to offer my own opinions as adamantly as you feel free to do. The issue isn't one of personalities as much as you want to make it so. It's about awarding a govt contract for services.

You published one end of a correspondence. I haven't seen the other. I'd rather not go down rabbit holes about individuals to form a view about a company's performance and value.

I responded to the comment, which said nothing, even by implication, about "bought and sold." If you want to throw out assertions separately, and you appear to, then you'll need to offer some evidence. Perhaps start a new thread. Meanwhile, your use of "performative" remains telling.

How would the UK govt be involved? Burnham wasn't directly involved in east M'chester, that was a partnership with the city & started before there was a metro mayor. He would, after his election, lobby for govt support but, remember, the UAE chose Manchester, not vice versa & undirected by HMG.

If executions are felt necessary they could be done with a general anaesthetic and a morphine drip, delivered in seclusion. Other, less performative but "humane" options exist. The US preference for performative executions staged in front of "witnesses," is abhorrent.

I completely agree, Hamas sought to capture hostages, unconcerned about collateral deaths of other innocents in their attack. On the other hand Israel sought to free the hostages by wholesale bombing unconcerned about collateral deaths of innocents in the attempt. Thousands, women & children.

And that, dear reader, is a an example of why social media are not great vehicles for measured debate. This chap has managed 3 unevidenced assertions in not much more than 100 characters.

The govt is not handling the case. The UAE might assume that, like its own govt, the UK govt is capable of influencing decisions and sanctions. It will have been disabused. For sound economic reasons we all hope that the UAE continues to invest in the UK and govt should say so. The PM did.

Nuclear weaponry and "defence" against it are both insane. Either the bombs land and explode or they are destroyed in the stratosphere. Neither is a good outlook for life on earth. PS There is no defence from nuclear cruise missiles launched from submarines in the near Atlantic.

Executions in the US have always had an audience. A small one, certainly, but an audience nonetheless. I believe that executions are a moral wrong which demean the dignity and authority of the state. An eye for an eye is vengeance, not justice.
