A new post on Alastair White’s project to turn Finnegans Wake into an opera. I loved the overture. peterchrisp.blogspot.com/2026/09/finn...

Loved the book launch for Guillermo Stitch’s new novel The Coast of Everything. He turned the tables by interviewing David Collard: ‘Where do I get my ideas from?’ ‘What’s next for me?’

Great to find John S Joyce in the 1926 Irish census living in Claude Rd. This was the house where he sat for his portrait by Tuohy and where he was visited by Robert McAlmon. I think he wouldn’t have described himself as ‘Clerk Retired’…Thanks @twain33.bsky.social

I’ve made a cave installation celebrating Robot the dog, who discovered the Lascaux cave in 1940. It’ll be in Brighton Open Market through May m.youtube.com/watch?v=92jX...

I love Donal Fallon’s new book The Dublin Pub, which brings back vivid memories of my first visit to Dublin in 1981. I had a drink in the Brazen Head, and took the blurry photo of the landlady, Mrs Cooney…she’s on the cover of the book too.

"You're traveling through another dimension - a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's a signpost up ahead: your next stop: the Twilight Zone!" Seasons greetings from the other dimensions!

RIP Roland McHugh, whose funeral was today. What a loss to Finnegans Wake readers.

Does anyone else remember Aaargh! the wonderful comics exhibition at the ICA in 1970-71? We had a family trip there and, aged 12, I wandered on my own into a dark screening room where they had a slide show of Robert Crumb’s Despair comic. A life changing experience.

A Bloomsday pilgrimage to the Victoria Palace Hotel in Paris, which James Joyce described as a ‘caravanserai peopled by American loudspeakers’, yet he wrote the best parts of Finnegans Wake here. peterchrisp.blogspot.com/2025/07/jame...
