3/3: Ukr: So I pay and get nothing in return? US: That's right. Besides, if we help you in the future, you'll owe us even more. Ukr: What? I already have to pay $500 billion. US: That's just pocket change. Ukr: That's twice our entire GDP! US: Who cares, in future you'll pay 200% of what we pay..

2/3: US: That was then, now you owe us the money. Ukr: $500 billion? You only spent $120 billion. US: Let's not quibble over pennies. Pay up or we won't help you anymore. Ukr: So if I pay, will I have security guarantees? US: No, none. But maybe we'll have an interest in keeping you alive.

USA-Ukraine Agreement in brief (1/3): US: You owe us $500 billion. Ukr: What? For what? US: For helping you. Ukr: But you said it was free. And you signed a pact in the 90s that said if we gave up our nuclear weapons, you would guarantee our security. 1/3

As always, people worry too much about others' opinions. Just be yourself, do what you enjoy and call yourself whatever you want. Running can be amazing if you do it for yourself, and a source of frustration or shame if you do it to impress others.

Absolutely! It’s a huge driver of creativity and innovation. Speaking of #PowerBI, I used to think I had mastered it, but I quickly realized I was just scratching the surface. It’s such a powerful tool that enables you to create truly incredible solutions.

Thanks, Miska! This dashboard’s target audience is quite different from my usual corporate execs, so I decided to take a completely fresh approach. It’s dynamic, energetic, and a bit flashy—just like triathletes!

That being said, it works pretty well for the wealthy. Their life expectancy is over 15 years longer than that of poorer individuals. So maybe it is by design.

Not only it delivers poor health outcomes despite being the most expensive, but it even destroys people financially.

Peter Parker @peter-a-parker.bsky.social · 10/12/2024
True that. Almost any chart you look at traces the root cause back to the '80s. The funny thing is, Reagan somehow maintains very high positive ratings, with over 70% approval among Americans. But well, we've learned that facts don't mean much these days.

Peter Parker @peter-a-parker.bsky.social · 09/12/2024
3/3 However, the biggest contributing factor by far is uneven access to healthcare across income percentiles. The US has a massive gap in life expectancy between high-income and low-income individuals (over 15 year). In fact, their healthcare works extremely well for the wealthy. Maybe by design?

2/3. So, the number of firearm deaths did increase, but relatively little compared to the population. What did increase considerably, though, is the number of opioid overdoses. That factor added a few hundred thousand extra deaths, affecting life expectancy to a small degree.

Peter Parker @peter-a-parker.bsky.social · 09/12/2024
1/3. That's an excellent question. This could be a major contributing factor. Luckily, we have data for a quick #dataanalysis. Here are firearm deaths in the US over the last decades. The number increased in recent years, but relative to the population, it remains stable.

It's insane that in the US, drug testing is required for a Walmart position, yet not for people with real power, where sound judgment is absolutely critical.

Oh, I agree 100%. What I meant was that much of what is considered radical left in America is considered mainstream or common sense in Europe.
000
Peter Parker @peter-a-parker.bsky.social · 29/11/2024
Exactly. Plus, why would you subject yourself to the daily firehose of misinformation from Emperor Musk? People underestimate the effectiveness of propaganda, which has been proven to work again and again. Just look at the proportion of Republicans who believe that the 2020 elections were stolen.

Peter Parker @peter-a-parker.bsky.social · 29/11/2024
What is funny is that what is considered radical in the US is often considered mainstream in Europe or even Canada.

Right, Musk giving his children ridiculous names like X æ A-12 is “creative”, but when a woman chooses an uncommon Irish name she faces a backlash. Talk about double standards.

‘A place of joy’: why scientists are joining the rush to Bluesky
Researchers say the social-media platform — an alternative to X — offers more control over the content they see and the people they engage with.

I love how people make up stuff about anything they want these days. Here's the actual data: The US has spent $175 billion, and the EU has spent $156 billion. These are similar amounts, and this does not even include other countries in the world. www.cfr.org/article/how-...

People often analyze every action he makes as if it's part of a four-dimensional chess game. In reality, it makes much more sense to see his actions as the result of simple, uncontrolled impulses. He is driven by a desire for attention, power, jealousy, greed, and revenge. +It's all about his image.

The Canada-US border is the longest in the world, three times longer than the Mexico-US border. Despite this, the number of illegal crossings through that border is 50 times smaller than through the southern border. But yes, let's call it a "serious" border issue.
