#Texas' leading rusher ran for only 36 yards tonight against #Georgia in tonight's game. The rest of Texas' runners combined for a minus 13 yards rushing. Not going to win many games that way.

Kidd really REALLY wanted the Knicks head coaching job and Nico refused to even let Kidd talk to the Knicks about it. So know Kidd is going out of his way to show Nico had badly constructed the Mavs' roster is.

Pete Oppel @peteoppel.bsky.social · 05/11/2025

1. There should be no DLo & Klay debate. DLo should start at the 1 and Max Christie at the 2. 2. Jason Kidd is vindictive and won't make changes. Why? Because he holds a grudge against Nico and it hasn't nothing to do with Nico's boneheaded Luka trade.

I can't prove it, but I've been told by reliable sources this is the Halloween lawn decoration installed by one of RFK's neighbors. Even if that's not true, it provokes a good chuckle anyway.

The Mavs are a long way from becoming a team that will be making a long playoff run and they won't be a significant playoff contender as long as AD is on the team. That's no fault of AD's. It's the fault of the team's current construction.

Pete Oppel @peteoppel.bsky.social · 27/10/2025

And what the Mavs need more than anything else right now is draft capitol. AD could get us that and perhaps another rotation player or two in the process.

100

Pete Oppel @peteoppel.bsky.social · 27/10/2025

That's possibly true. That's why the Mavs should trade him. We could get more in return for AD than anyone else on the squad. This team should not be rebuilding around AD -- that's shortsighted. They should be building around Flagg.

100

Pete Oppel @peteoppel.bsky.social · 27/10/2025

Trading Gafford is not going to give the Mavs a significant upgrade. Once he returns he will get more court time than Lively. I'm not saying that's the right way, but it's Jason Kidd's way.

000

Pete Oppel @peteoppel.bsky.social · 27/10/2025

Because the players who start the game are far less important than the players who finish the game.

000

Pete Oppel @peteoppel.bsky.social · 27/10/2025

Actually, it's AD who should be traded. He would bring a much better return than Gafford.

100

Pete Oppel @peteoppel.bsky.social · 27/10/2025

OK, name a guard who's available and an upgrade

Texas needs to get more disciplined. Committing 12 penalties for 115 yards, as the Longhorns did against San Jose State today, is going to come back to bite them in #SEC play. #Longhornfootball.

Pete Oppel @peteoppel.bsky.social · 05/09/2025

C'mon, guys. Luka was traded because he gave Nico Harrison some gruff and Nico's ego was threatened by Luka's treatment of him. Simple personality clash. That's it. Case closed.

Nobody's mentioning the quirky fact that both of Dallas' pro basketball teams -- #NBA and #WNBA -- won their respective lotteries this season. What are the odds of that.

In all the brouhaha about the Mavs winning the NBA lottery, it's worth remembering that Dallas' WNBA team also won that league's lottery this year.

Mavs can't afford to fire Nico, because if he goes, AD and Kyrie leave with him.

000

Pete Oppel @peteoppel.bsky.social · 14/05/2025

Mavs on the record as not repeating the February Disaster by trading Flagg. If Giannis is traded (and it's worth noting he has not asked for a trade) Milwaukee will want loads of draft picks in return (which the Mavericks don't have, but the Rockets and Spurs do).

It wasn't the cost. Sundance simply outgrew Park City which simply didn't have the infrastructure to support an event the size of Sundance.

Utah would have to find another city to host it. Anyone who has attended the Sundance festival recently knows Park City simply doesn't have the infrastructure to support a festival of that size.

Reason No. 2: the precedent for multi-part movies was set almost 50 years ago. These movies are not going to be judged individually but as a set and every piece of the set has to be Oscar-worthy. That's why Lord of the Rings didn't win until the series was completed.
